OBC's - Casino credit

We are long time cruisers but first time with RSSC, on the Voyager. We like to do our own unusual excursions, don't drink the higher end wine, and would not know what to do in a spa, so was wondering if our generous TA's OBC's can be used in the Casino, that I believe I read is a leased department.

A related type of question would be if the casino would give you a marker (credit) charged to your on board account usually secured with cash or a credit card. Each cruise line seems to do it a little differently, with some like CCL charging a % fee to use your on board account.

Thanks for all the great knowledge available from this wonderful site.

I think that you can't use your on board credit in the casino.

If I were you, and you really don't want to use some ship's excursions, you might talk to your TA about this, so that in future she can find another way of rewarding you.

Although even if you've never used a spa (I had not), a nice massage or a manicure could be a nice treat.

Can't answer your question with 100% certainty, but the spa is also leased, and one time I did use OBC there. Thus, I'd assume that casino is probably ok as well; not sure though. Do you not do any of the excursions through the ship? Some can be quite good.

Enjoy your cruise!

Like others, I don't understand why you wouldn't avail yourselves of some of the most amazing concierge choice excursions available on RSSC.

Casino credit sounds like a way to deposit your OBC directly into the coffers of the cruiseline since there is no guarantee you will get anything for gambling the OBC away.

Where are you sailing? Many of us seasoned RSSC veterans could tell you amazing things to experience on the small 6-8 person concierge excursions.

Thanks guys for all your input.

I guess I was too round about in my question, so let me try again.

How does RSSC provide chips to play in their casinos? Can you sign a marker for them charged to your on board account? Is there a fee charged on this marker like some cruise line casinos?

Thanks and good luck to all you gamblers out there...

RSSC does not charge a fee for buying chips at the table.

BUT!!! You originally asked about OBC for a first time Regent cruiser. You need to know that the RSSC-sponsored new passenger OBC has restrictions. Check to see if you have the new RSSC guest OBC and what the restrictions are.

You originally stated that your TA gave you a generous OBC. You should really check into where that OBC originated.

We can't tell you what we had if it doesn't apply under your circumstances. If your OBC doesn't apply to casino credits, you can still buy chips without a fee but it won't be credited to your OBC.

Do you understand the subleties of this explanation? You can have an OBC, but it won't be applied to whatever its restrictions are.
