nana&poppy2526 Posted November 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2008 I asked this on another thread but haven't gotten any response yet, so I thought I'd ask here. Does anyone know if RCI (specifically Mariner of the Seas) sells diet caffeine free Cokes (gold cans)? Do you know if the airport will allow you to carry on a 12-pack of said items? Thanks. wrp96 Posted November 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 5, 2008 A few people have found them on the ships, but I have never seen Caffeine Free Diet Coke on any RCCL ship. The only caffeine free diet I've ever seen is Diet Sprite. No, you will not be allowed to take a 12 pack of sodas in your carryon on the plane. It is allowed in your checked luggage but I wouldn't recommend that. Just have your taxi driver run past a grocery store or convenience store for you on the way to the ship if you want some. ma3 Posted November 5, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 5, 2008 On our last cruise on the EOS there were gold cans in the fridge. However, we do bring a rollie canvas bag filled with soda. Just stop and buy at any supermarket before boarding
STEVE-O Posted November 5, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 5, 2008 Late in the cruise...we found Diet De-Caf in the general store....20 ounce bottles. I "think" they charged $3 a bottle......
rcprncss Posted November 5, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 5, 2008 Never seen caffeine free diet coke on any of the Royal Caribbean ships. How about buying a 12 pack before you board the ship?
Merion_Mom Posted November 5, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 5, 2008 A couple of times, bartenders have gone "somewhere" and found me a can of CFDC, but I never knew where they got it, or whether they would find it at all. You can't count on it. That's why I always take individual "Crystal Light" (or similar) packets and mix my own low-cal, caffeine free drinks. :)
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted November 5, 2008 #7 Share Posted November 5, 2008 None on Independence. Brought our own on board with us.
nana&poppy2526 Posted November 6, 2008 Author #8 Share Posted November 6, 2008 The problem with taking a 12 pack on board is that our transportation from the airport to the port is RCI's shuttle with who knows how many other people on it. I kind of doubt the driver would be willing to stop by a store for the two of us while all those other folks have to wait!!! Thanks for the input. wrp96 Posted November 6, 2008 #9 Share Posted November 6, 2008 Then my suggestion is make friends with people on the roll call for your cruise, and ask someone who is driving to the port to pick some up for you.
Gonzo70 Posted November 6, 2008 #10 Share Posted November 6, 2008 Keep your eyes open when you exit the plane. There may be vending machines that sell the beverage you like - you can stock up as you are making your way to your baggage claim and then bring them onto the ship that way. I can not tell you how confused some of the assistant waiters were when they poured me a glass of water and later saw something else in the glass.
bay guy Posted November 7, 2008 #13 Share Posted November 7, 2008 We were on Grandeur in June and had no problem getting caffeine free diet Coke in 12 oz. cans from the bars.
