yogi2929 Posted November 18, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 18, 2008 If you were on the Westerdam I would suggest a tray for the buffet.
CowPrincess Posted November 18, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2008 Don't forget a lovely "Bedazzled" sweatshirt, preferably with some artistic rips around the neck. And a pair of leggings to wear with a midriff top, for the second formal night.

mamma0233 Posted November 18, 2008 #10 Share Posted November 18, 2008 Your superior attitude and tickets for the Titanic! I've never encountered it while cruising but see alot of it on these boards. Cruising is a great deal for everyone...not just the elite! It is a great mix of people. Posts like these are very intimidating and make new cruisers feel like they have no business on board! WRONG! You can indeed cruise without owning a tux or a $3000 ball gown. In order not to offend you can have lovely room service! But new people to these boards should not be made to feel unwelcome or somehow "less" welcome because they wear khaki's and a sports jacket to dinner. Please forward a couple of hundred years and accept change! We LOVE cruising...our way!

GarySuzy Posted November 19, 2008 Author #13 Share Posted November 19, 2008 To all of you who took this thread for what it was a sarcastic dig at those of us who sometines take ourselves to seriously thanks for your contributions. mamma0233 Posted November 19, 2008 #14 Share Posted November 19, 2008 :o I completely understood the vein you were going for! My point was that most people new to the boards, and there are many each day, would be putoff by these posts, funny to some but very scary to many! Cruising is a whole new world to many of us! It takes a few months to to get into the rythme of these boards. I know I was blasted when I had the affrontery to ask a question the first time! Always keep in mind that not everyone here "knows" each other! You may be talking to a CC friend but your wisdom is lost on a newbie! I fight the "I know everything" on several other boards. Just my opinion, but we are watching these boards to HELP others not to put them down!

Gary Gary, Thank You For Posting This "Satirical" Packing Thread.....I think it's Brilliant!!! FUNNEEEEE STUFF......:D It's sad when some people can not see the humor and take things to serious. We have to laugh at our ounselves sometimes so that things can drop back into perspective. CHEERS!!!!!:D

peabody99 Posted November 19, 2008 #17 Share Posted November 19, 2008 I am not around here enough to know that was a joke and you are not clinically inane. A shower caddy?? lol. Luckily it was clarified for me that this MAY be a joke. laugh all you want, but in port we get as far away as we can, so I do like the zip locks to throw a homemade buffet sandwich or pastry in for a hiking or remote beach snack. Anyway, no joke the wine opener is a must ;)

Rich Thank goodness we have a steward! (I've never found a use for that icon, but incognito seems to fit the bill!!:D) I sure hope those black tennis shoes have the built in skates! Constanze Posted November 19, 2008 #20 Share Posted November 19, 2008 How about a set of rope lights to wrap around the railing of your verandah....of course you'll have to use one of HAL's powercords to power them up.....:D Cheers!
esther e Posted November 19, 2008 #21 Share Posted November 19, 2008 This is one of the funniest threads I have read in a long time. I'm sitting here with tears streaming down my face, laughing like crazy!!!!!:D:D:D:D However, on a serious side, you did forget the sneakers with holes in them especially for touring Europe! And Constanza beat me to the lights for decorating the balcony!!! How about a door sign, decorated of course, that says "Go Away"
fireman845 Posted November 19, 2008 #22 Share Posted November 19, 2008 I do wear a tux on formal night BUT my pants are 4 sizes to big and my butt hangs out and I HAVE TOO wear my ball cap sideways, but only in the dining room ...

esther e Posted November 19, 2008 #24 Share Posted November 19, 2008 Another one of my favorite formal night accessories is a large backpack that is studded with rhinestones that spell out "FUN." Everyone should have at least one of those. And along with the boxes of wine and cases of soda don't forget to bring shopping bags of potato chips and pretzels. You might need a snack and have nothing available at the Lido at 3:00 AM. Ya neva know.
Cruiser809e8r09 Posted November 19, 2008 #25 Share Posted November 19, 2008 A T-shirt that says "SPEAK ENGLISH MORON", in English... of course. Electronic drum set, to keep the kids occupied and out of your hair. Walkie talkies, so that when the kids wander off and get lost you can yell at them all the way from the dining room to "GET YOUR @$*&@$# BACK UP HERE NOW MISTER OR I'M GONNA TAN YOUR HIDE!" ... and finally, a "Slip n Slide". Because all that perfectly straight decking and all that handy water just begs for it. Don't forget to put your life vests on like we showed you!
