Best entertainment you've seen on Princess

Fast forward to the Oct. 19,2010 Emerald Princess sailing, and there he was! "Barty" Brown. I had finally caught up with him.

I really like Barty. He had disappeared to Cunard for a while.

Do you know how much longer he'll be on Emerald?

Thanks.

We really enjoyed the Juan Carlos latin show, which only occurs when you depart from San Juan (and only that night). Also have seen some impressive jugglers, which are even more impressive when their shows occur during sailing.

I think having the right expectations help, this is not Las Vegas or Broadway, but they seem to try hard to put on a good show.

On the Sun or Dawn in 2004 or 2005 (can't remember which ship or which year)... We saw "Jeff Dunham and his dummy Walter" on Princess , it was right before his career sky rocketed, and actually we had seen him a year or two earlier on Celebrity too.

Also like Sarge

Pablo222-I don't know when Barty will be next. I searched his name on line but didn't get much information. And, I had asked for his card the night before the cruise was over but the information on it is the same as what is on line. I was kind of disappointed about that-but can understand why he wouldn't give out a phone number and email address to strangers.

I would be interested in finding out future dates for him myself!

Have had the pleasure of seeing Bayne Bacon on three different cruise ships. Multi-talented - singer, guitar, piano with great jokes in between. Maybe the best piano player I've ever seen on a cruise ship. His wife (can't remember her name) is also a great entertainer.

Musical group - Liquid Blue on the Star Princess 30-nite cruise (Sept. 2009) SFO to Sydney. Three female singers, and fabulous musicians. They performed a Divas show, a Salute to Woodstock show, and a British Invasion show. We did not even "discover" them until a week into our cruise! They had an extensive repetoire of songs.

I absolutely loved "phoenix rising" as did my mum. We would often sit and listen to them on our cruise on the Crown.

Troy Thirdgill is probably one of the funniest comedians I've seen - on a ship, in a club, on tv. I loved his show, made my mum come watch it and she loved it too. I left, then walked back to buy his dvd. He was a really nice guy too. http://troythirdgill.com/

Have to say, didn't care much for the first 2 production shows, can't remember the names - but other people seemed to like them.... but they debuted a third one which I did enjoy they did more songs I was familiar with, including the beatles, Elvis, and on the way out I heard a woman saying "no one should ever do Elvis".... I laughed and didn't care if she heard....

The talented string quartet that played in the Piazza last February on the Emerald. These lovely young ladies also performed in concert one evening in Explorer's Lounge. Bravo!

"C'est Magnifique" in Vista Lounge on the Dawn, January, 2007.

Sailing on the Emerald again in 15 days!

Chris

I was perusing this thread a few days ago and noticed that I posted in January, 2009 just a couple of weeks before we sailed on the Emerald Princess for the second time. On that sailing and another in September of this year, we enjoyed the party band "Exotique". Here are excerpts from my reviews of those cruises:

We enjoyed Exotique band that performed in Explorer’s Lounge and on deck. This is one of the best groups that we have seen on a Princess ship, and we watched many of their shows. I was happy to hear that Exotique was scheduled to perform at the “Champagne Waterfall” on the second formal night and asked if they would do some Motown tunes for my birthday. As with the classical concert, I was disappointed that I couldn’t attend, but the band wished me a belated Happy Birthday and played “My Girl” in my honor the following night.

...We didn't see any of the other shows but enjoyed the party band "Exotique" frequently when they appeared in Explorers Lounge. We had seen this group on a previous voyage and consider them to be the finest musicians/vocalists on any of our Princess cruises. They are very personable and enjoy chatting with passengers.

Bon Voyage!

Chris

Sandee,

Glad to see you made it home! Are you going cruising again already? hi to Rod.

The only entertainment we saw on our Emerald cruise were the opening show and maybe one other, plus Barrington Brown in Crooners. Our other "entertainment" was the casino and my emailing in the Internet Cafe. LOL.

I'm ready to cruise again, anytime!

I agree with you that Bert Stratton was the best single ENTERTAINER on Princess, but I believe the question was what was the best ENTERTAINMENT. One of the best production shows I've seen on my many, many Princess cruises was the one called "Piano Man". It highlighted Billy Joel, Elton John and Liberace. The music was terrific and the costumes

(especially in the Liberace segment) were spectacular. That was one of the best shows I've seen not just on a cruise ship, but anyplace else as well. If my memory serves me correctly I believe I saw that show twice, once on Diamond Princess & once on Caribbean Princess. I wouldn't mind seeing it again on another Princes cruise. ;)

I've just returned (with the wife) from our first ever cruise and what a fantastic time we had;) - Thanks Princess. We saw the show Howard was referring to as well as others performed by the Dawn dancers, Deanna Julian & J Michael Beech - excellent. Other great acts were Bayne Bacon, La Forza & Ivor Richards.

Cheers

David
