ilmsg Posted January 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2009 The main dinner seating was not available for the cruise I'm looking at, just the late dinner seating. Does this typically interfere with shows at night or do they do an earlier show for those dining late?
cb at sea Posted January 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2009 The shows for late seating will be BEFORE dinner, on nights when there is a show. No meal is ever scheduled to interfere with the entertainment. Sometimes, there will be an "adult" show, that is after BOTH dinner seatings. abhb Posted January 13, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2009 There are shows everynight. Some will be after dinner, some will be before dinner. The ones that are before dinner are like that because there is some other event later on that evening like Love and Marriage show, Quest or an adults only comedian. You won't miss a thing. We used to do main seating. Tried late and never went back. It is so nice to come back from shore and have a snack and nap before getting ready for dinner. springtxbill Posted January 13, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2009 On formal nights the show tends to be after dinner.:)
wrp96 Posted January 13, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2009 If you really want main seating, ask to be waitlisted for it. If you don't clear the waitlist before sailing, then once you get on the ship, go speak to the maitre'd about switching to main seating.

negc Posted January 13, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2009 The shows for late seating will be BEFORE dinner, on nights when there is a show. No meal is ever scheduled to interfere with the entertainment.Sometimes, there will be an "adult" show, that is after BOTH dinner seatings. When there are production shows or headliner shows there is always one for each dinner seating, so you never need to miss one because of your dining schedule. Despite what cb at sea has posted above and for some reason she continually posts it even though she should know by now that she is in error:rolleyes:, not all shows for late seating are before dinner. Some take place after your dinner. Shows for late seating are scheduled for before dinner only on those nights when there is a special activity or show later in the evening to which all guests are invited. Examples of such activities are the "Quest" and the "Newlywed and Not so Newlywed Game". On those nights and only on those nights, you can expect the production shows or the celebrity headliners to be offered to late seating diners before their meal. Just be sure to check the daily Cruise Compass to see when the shows are scheduled each evening.:)
yogimax Posted January 13, 2009 #9 Share Posted January 13, 2009 The biggest negative for late seating is the shows that begin after dinner.
dwdwnurse Posted January 13, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 13, 2009 We love late seating! It's nice to not have to rush back from an excursion, get dressed and run to dinner. We enjoy sitting on our balcony for a few hours just relaxing. There have been a few times we were a little late for a show due to our dinner taking too long. That's okay...we're on a cruise, not at work ;)!
negc Posted January 13, 2009 #11 Share Posted January 13, 2009 The biggest negative for late seating is the shows that begin after dinner. Why is that. The only negative I can come up with is that after a heavy meal you might feel a bit drowsy sitting in the theater and doze off.:D On the positive side, it saves me money by keeping me out of the casino. ;)
Host Kewlguy Posted January 13, 2009 #12 Share Posted January 13, 2009 I prefer the late show also verses the early show. It's all a matter of personal preference.
melbur Posted January 13, 2009 #13 Share Posted January 13, 2009 I agree, after dinner shows I prefer, and I think their trend to more pre-dinner shows is unfortunate. Last cruise in November there were only 2 post dinner shows for late seating, and 5 pre-dinner. Ah well, just have to get into some mischief in the casino now! YoungDiamond Posted January 14, 2009 #14 Share Posted January 14, 2009 Late seating is the best time. I like to take my time getting back from the stops and not having to hurry to get ready for dinner. I also like to enjoy a glass of wine or a drink on the balcony before dinner. It also allows me to escape my gf and hit the casino while she is getting ready. A cool thing about eating late is that you can order what ever is on the dinning room menu to the room. If there is any kind of steak on the menu I will have them ordered to my room. Its freakin why i gain 5lbs on every cruise i go on.
