Attached is the updated spreadsheet as of 4/9/09.

Fantastic, saved me having to trawl through all 20 pages. ;)

Just back from Eastern Med.

Deck. 11.

Cabin 1551.

Class. Aqua class.

Side. Port.

Bed. In middle.

Noise. Quiet, apart from adjacent cabin doors being slammed occasionally.

Balcony View. Dreadful. http://pictures.cruisecritic.com/showphoto.php?photo=11163&cat=519

Balcony size. Smallish.

Wind. not a problem.

No other specific problems.

Other comments. After two cruises on the Independence of the Seas in D/E class cabins we found this one a bit cramped in comparison.

Would go back onboard in a flash though. Ship, food, staff and the all important weather was fantastic.

Jim.

I so appreciate this thread and the posted information. Had just booked back-to-back for summer 2010, but with this info, changed my cabin from 7185 and 7183 to 7241 (reported larger balcony! and great view on hump) and 7239. they aren't connecting, but that is OK, we can get pass cards to access each cabin in our group.

Deck: Penthouse, 11

Cabin: 1666

Class: SS1

Starboard or Port: Starboard, Aft

Bed near: Balcony

Quiet: Very quiet, has its own alcove entrance adjoining 1668

Balcony: Wraparound from starboard side to aft. Long and "skinny". Had to angle table and chairs and keep moving them around. Beautiful views!! Very open, felt somewhat "exposed" from views above.

Wind a problem? Yes, because of the openness and exposure from wraparound effect. Okay when docked or going slow. Impossible when going over 20 knots (which wasn't a lot of the time)

Soot: Yes, expecially when ship was going over 20 knots. Also problems with drainage from window washing machine, tended to pile up in the corner and then spill over on the deck making it wet and slippery. Cabin steward was great to get it cleaned up. Deck very hot with direct sun--you have to wear shoes, flip flops to walk around.

Other comments: Unexpected plus: guitarist playing on the outside deck of the Oceanview Cafe every evening during cocktail hour. Made our sailaways and wine on the balcony every evening very special.

Cabin was very spacious although oddly shaped. Two poles, one on the right side of the bed and one just before the bathroom. We got used to it and it wasn't a problem. Our butler(Rikki, the best!) apologized profusely about it when we first checked in. We loved the cabin, but not sure it was worth the extra money. No walk in closet. Will try SS2 next time.

Deck: Penthouse, 11

Cabin: 1670

Class: CC

Location: AFT

Bed near: Balcony

Quiet: Quiet inside, sometimes cabin door from next cabin could be heard openning and closing. Outside on deck, not private at all. Could hear everyone's conversations.

Balcony: Very nice size, larger than most but not as large as the ones right down the middle aft. Enjoyed our balcony very much.

Wind: No problems with wind.

Soot: Big issues with soot. It was constant and difficult to deal with. Our cabin steward was very good at trying to keep it clean, but it was a losing battle. The deck was expecially nasty and tracked inside very easily. We spoke to several of the officers about it and it is due to the Diesel engines when they crank up to full force, and the wind is blowing toward the aft.

Other comments: We did B2B, and were in the SS1 first, which made the CC seem especially small. I believe it is smaller than those on RCL ships. However, there was a very good use of space and we got used to it. We actually liked our balcony better, soot and all. Cabin steward, Cyril, was the same as our SS1, and treated us with butler type service. Wonderful!

Deck - 6

Cabin # - 6127

Class –

Starboard or Port Side - port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) –bath

Quiet Cabin --Cabin is located directly on top of the theater, so you do hear the late show if you're an early-to-bed person. But it's not bad--no worse than hearing someone else's radio or TV through a wall.

Balcony View - Great view, no obstructions

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal, I guess

Was wind a problem? When sailing

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Forward cabin

Any specific problems with this cabin? None

Any other comments? Some friends in Aqua Class thought we had a great deal. Our cabin was the same size, balcony was the same, and for the most part, amenities were the same, and the price was less.

Deck - Penthouse

Cabin # - 1649

Class – cc1

Starboard or Port Side - port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) –bath

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – yes, connecting but not open - heard they do not like to open them from another cabin, even if requested, due to possible rattle?

Balcony View - normal view, view below of lifeboats about 3 decks down

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal

Was wind a problem? wind was not a problem

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem?

Any specific problems with this cabin? none - great cabin steward - Denis

Any other comments? you must request canapes daily, loved the room service (breakfast) and always on time if I ordered night before, this is right next to the aqua class rooms - those get daily water but not the CC class cabins. there was a problem with the phone in the room, however. i reported this by day 4 after missing breakfast because they call you when the food is outside your door to arrange delivery. it was fixed, then broken again, then fixed again.

Thank you very much for creating and maintaining this thread and spreadsheet. After doing a lot of research with the information which you have compiled, I went ahead and upgraded to a very specific cabin for my Honeymoon. Thanks a million for helping to make my honeymoon a very special time. :) :) :)

Here is the latest copy of the spreadsheet updated as of 6/26/09. Sorry the updates are further apart but my cruise on Solstice is now just 3 months away:D so more of my time is spent in planning and organizing things for our roll call.:)

As in past the duplicate entries are marked by Red font on the cabin numbers any problems with a specific cabin is marked with a yellow highlight and red text. There are quite a few ?? on this one - if you know the answer to any please post and I will correct on the next update.

Deck - 10

Cabin # - 1198

Class – Sky Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard (I think)

Bed near? – in middle of room since it was a suite.

Quiet Cabin Yes - the quietest we have ever had

Balcony View - slightly obstructed by the window washing equipment, but did not interfere with our enjoyment.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - slightly oversized as it is a suite balcony on the corner aft, so it was a wrap around balcony, but not nearly as big as the aft balconies on the Millennium class ships.

Was wind a problem? almost always.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? no

Any specific problems with this cabin? no, loved it and would get it again. Very spacious.

Any other comments? Loved the ship and the room. However, since it was an aft room, we did have a "pole" in the room, which was very odd. The pole was right next to the bed, which meant you could only get in the bed on one side, unless you wanted to maneuver around the pole.

Just wondering if you had any pictures of the room? we are deciding between room #1198,#9299, or #8336. How badly obstructed was the balcony from the window washing equipment?
