I believe 'Blue Lagoon' which exist in (almost?) all NCL ships built after Norwegian Star originated from Star Cruises.

 

SuperStar Leo (now-Norwegian Spirit) was the first newbuild of Star Cruises and it is the original freestyle-ship and has the first (custom-built) Blue Lagoon of the fleet(SC/NCL). Subsequent ships e.g. SuperStar Virgo; SuperStar Libra/Scorpio (now-Norwegian Star/Dawn); Gem etc. also has a Blue Lagoon! Also, the Star-class ships were based on the Leo-class enhanced with new concepts and refinements.

 

As to why the name... I'd think as Leo was built with elements from different parts of the world e.g. Moulin Rouge main showroom; Maharajah's casino etc. that Blue Lagoon was inspired by a visit to Disneyland Paris, I think there's a degree of resemblance in both outlet. However subsequent ships do not carry that theme so I'm not betting the farm!

Ahhhh, but the question is "Does boss cruise and might boss be visiting cruise critic while not in the office!" Kind of makes you wonder.

Imteresting thought does anyone really know where the name came from. Only those in the room when it was first selected know for sure. Any answer could be just folklore passed on from one person to another over the last 10 years. :confused:

Ok everyone,

 

I was first told that it was named after the blue Lagoon area next to NCL's Miami office. As you have found out above NCL got the name from Star.

 

So if you look at Star you would guess it was BLUESEA777's answer but from what I have been told (keep in mind this could be wrong) but Planers Edge got the right answer about the Blue Lagoon in Laos.

I remember watching parts of that as a boy when my Mom wasn't home.

 

I know I liked what I saw.

 

But that age, I wasn't sure what I liked about it, just knew that I wanted to delve into it some more.

 

After that I got fat and in my teenage years, didn't do so much delving.

 

But now i'm fat...but happily married. So turning the lights off does wonders for my delving life.

haha no time tonight I'm about to leave for the Cleveland Cavs game...I will pack the night before. Speaking of that I'm thinking about turning my 8 hour connection into a night or two in Vegas before I fly to Honolulu. You guys should come down!
