elycelynne Posted January 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2009 I know that I'm getting way ahead of myself since I just booked my cruise 5 days ago, but I was wondering: Suppose I pre-pay for a bunch of things online (shore excursions and the like) and, however long after they've been paid for, I find that I had to cancel for whatever reason. I know that the cruiseline has various cancellation penalties for the cruise itself (which would be taken care of by whatever trip insurance I ended up purchasing), but what about the charges for the pre-booked items which I assume would have already been charged to my credit card? How would those charges be refunded? Is it an automatic credit, or would I have to go through hoops in order to get the credit? I'm sure the answer is more obvious than what I'm making it to be, but it's been so long since I've cruised that pre-booking wasn't even in existence back then! Cruising-along Posted January 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2009 We have prebooked shore excursions and changed or cancelled them before. It's very easy, HAL just credits your credit card. Go to your booked excursions and mark "cancel" and you will find a credit quite soon. (I'd print off the confirmation) Hope this helps. :)
mamaofami Posted January 28, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2009 We just canceled a cruise and had that experience. HAL credited our credit card for what we had prebooked. No problem at all.
elycelynne Posted January 29, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks! Hopefully it won't even be an issue.
sail7seas Posted January 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2009 We had the same situation. Had to cancel a cruise and what we had charged ahead was credited to our account with no problem at all. It was done promptly and was no issue.
ElginEve Posted January 29, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Would this work the same with OBC? I have quite a bit of OBC from my TA, HA and husband for my upcoming cruise. I guess I could just use this as an excuse to splurge but I really don't see my using it all ....:p
