My camera. I don't need much else.

I have read that some take inexpensive blow up mattresses or sand buckets. They then leave them with some small child they see on the beach.

I like to bring my float mat...folds up small enough to pack and it's easy to blow up. I also have a waterproof MP3 player that I can use while I'm floating, but mostly I use it when I do laps. Laps are boring. LOL

We bought a small portable speaker for my IPOD. We zip the IPOD inside, and we have caribbean music on the beach! Love it, b/c the IPOD zips inside the speaker to protect it from the sand. Has really good sound also.

Could you let me know what brand of iPod speaker that is or where you got it? I have a softside cooler that I use at home that has built in speakers, but it's too big to bring with me. And the earbuds get on my nerves after a while. :)

This may sound silly but my DH doesn't care for the sand. Strange as we live on Long Island surrounded by sand lol. What I do is take a washcloth/hand towel and soak it and put it in a baggy with ice. After he is sitting on the beach a while I take it out and there is nothing more refreshing as to take an ice cold cloth and wipe face and hands. Very nice and he's happy.

I bring a ziplock bag or two to bring home shells and other treasures I've found...not so unusual, but very useful! No sand on my camera!

A collapsable cooler. That way you might be able to purchase more than one beer at a time and if they're nice, they'll fill it with ice for you.....
