ckp19 Posted February 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2009 Hey everyone, we just made our final payment for our April 26th Freedom cruise on Saturday (1st time with RCL....7 Carnival,1 Disney,1 ncl). Have always watched the price right up to final payment and there was never a change, accually our 2 promenade rooms went up once. So today when I checked I seen a residency rate special (we are from Nova Scotia,Canada) Holy crap $580 per cabin (we have 2 adjoining) So I thought to myself , "Nice time for a price drop now that they have full payment from everyone", so I decided to call and was ready for a fight of my life to get this pricing:mad: ...figuring there was small print about this "special" that doesn't apply to my boooking, I called explained the pricing I see online they looked and said " your absolutley correct , Because your Canadian we can't give you an on board credit we will credit back your credit card $580 x 2 rooms" Thank you RCL for honourning your "if you price lowers anytime before you sail you will recive the lower price policy" A even happier cruiser:)

jules815 Posted February 19, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2009 Congrats on your price drop. We've had this happen before after it's been paid for, and it's a nice pre-vacation bonus!
missbogota Posted February 19, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2009 Monday they credited back $430.00 to my credit card. The young lady I spoke with couldn't have been nicer, and wished me happy sailing and thanked me for cruising Royal Caribbean. It doesn't get any better than this!!! uksimonusa Posted February 19, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2009 I had $1500 credit in the last 2 weeks on my April cruise, they offered to credit my credit card, but instead I asked that they apply the credit to my July booking which they did straight away.:D

cruisemates2 Posted February 19, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 19, 2009 We switched to a guarantee cabin last year, and they credited back $600 to us immediately, and they were very friendly and congratulated us on our savings . Janet
jbwaterski Posted February 20, 2009 #12 Share Posted February 20, 2009 Congrats to you & to RCCL. We will be sailing The Freedom on Sunday. She is an awesome ship. We sailed on her 2 years ago. You will love it.
mwne2nks Posted February 20, 2009 #13 Share Posted February 20, 2009 I just noticed a price drop on our upcoming cruise. I called my TA and she didn't think so. I was wrong, but at least I tried. My price actually went up and the ship looks pretty full.

mwne2nks Posted February 20, 2009 #16 Share Posted February 20, 2009 Ha HA . We only spent 550 last year on our set sail pass. and won a couple hundred in the casino. I just couldn't see spending $600 dollars for a few sq feet in a room we barely see anyway. I wouldn't give up the balcony that IS important to us. Gettin Married Posted February 20, 2009 #18 Share Posted February 20, 2009 After reading through some of the postings I wondered if the original price I paid had changed since I paid in full in September sometime. It dropped about $110 per person plus I had paid the fuel surcharge. I called about the fuel and they said it would be an onboard credit... Do I need to call the same to get the price drop return? How exactly does it work? Is it only if full payment hasnt been made or only if full payment has been made? Thank you for your assistance

Yes, if you see a lower price, it is up to you to call and request the price difference. I understand some TA's watch for their clients, but ultimately it would be your respnsibility. And timeliness matters. If you wait and the price drop ends, you will have missed it. Where can I get more info on this "if you price lowers anytime before you sail you will recive the lower price policy" Policy? How exactly does it work? Is it only if full payment hasnt been made or only if full payment has been made? Thank you for your assistance What I do is do a 'pretend' booking. I start by selecting my sailing and check the appropriate boxes (state residency, military, 55+). Then if I see a price drop, I call my TA (or RCCL if booked directly through them). That's all there is too it. :) Erika
LEtue Posted February 20, 2009 #22 Share Posted February 20, 2009 Wow, I didn't know about this policy either. Thanks for posting the info and congratulations on the great savings :D I always watch for price drops but in the past the price always went up. I guess I always picked a popular sailing..... sarahjoe Posted February 20, 2009 #23 Share Posted February 20, 2009 I booked directly thru RCL Navigator for 3/23 about 2 weeks ago and just checked and there was a price drop of $50/pp on the Promenade rooms--we got $200 credit--definately worth a 5 minute phone call

My best friend booked an inside guarantee a few weeks ago and with the residency rate the promenade cabins are LESS than her inside guarantee.
