Eurodam Questions re: towel animals, transfers, & beds

I have some questions regarding the Eurodam... I see in the gifts guide that towel animals are to be ordered at 15.00. I thought this was just something they did everyday with the towels??? Can anyone give us a suggestion on what we can do from the time we disembark the ship in Ft. Lauderdale until our flight at 2:15? I tried to do a shore excursion to SEminole Hard Rock & Casino, but they would not let me book because your flight had to leave at 2:30 or later. We did not purchase a transfer from the ship to the airport as I did not even know about this until last night. I am really confused about the transfer, but seems like that might be the thing we need to do? Just hate to sit in the airport all that time before our flight

Also, in the SA Suites, are the beds king or queen? The TA says queen and HAL website states King???? Thank you all!!! :)

I can't comment on the SA cabins question. But I know I have never had towel animals made for me while on a HAL ship, or Princess for that matter. I think its a Carnival thing.

As for a shore excursion in Fort Lauderdale after your cruise, a neat place to go is "Flamingo Gardens" Its a botanical garden, which also has some animals (Aligators, Birds, Otters, Turtles etc) as well as an orange/citrus fruit grove. Its a fun place to go check out if you have a few hours. Or you can also visit the Everglades and go for an airboat ride. You occaisionally will see some Aligators, or some other wildlife.

Enjoy your cruise!

We have had towel animals at night on the Eurodam, Noordam and all the other HAL ships since 2005. They aren't there every night.

We always book an SA suite -- the beds are King size.

Ft Lauderdale airport will not let you check your bags or check in until at least 3 hours before your flight -- there are notes up as you enter the terminals.

Yes that is correct. It is for the book. DW bought it last fall on the Ms Veendam whilst in Alaska . It was on sale in the explorers lounge cafe case for the same price as on line. She had our cabin steward sign the book as he and his cabin mate taught the free class when it was offered. All the stewards told us our fellow was the best of all the stwards currently on the ship at that time. He was good fast and entertaining. DW syas it is great and it as must buy. I have yet to see any creations on our bed nor the mints come to think of it!!!!! Colaid.

Depending on your departure airline ... you might spend some time at the Flight Deck Lounge in terminal 3, outside security, near the E concourse checkpoint entry. It's open Monday-Friday from 9AM to 3PM. Comfortable seating, bathrooms, snacks and sandwiches for sale, a view of the airfield. Best of all ... it's free and available for anyone to use.

As to the transfers ... many people suggest just grabbing a taxi at the pier. They are plentiful there. The ship transfers likely cost a tad more than a taxi. If you've not yet made final payment, you can ask your T/A to add the transfers to your booking, and you will receive a voucher in your HAL docs. If you have passed final pay, I believe you can purchase transfers once onboard, possibly from the Shore Excursion people.

You can; I did that when I disembarked the Noordam earlier this month.

Even though the transfer was a tad less expensive than a cab, I decided that when I disembark in Ft. Lauderdale next November I'll take a cab. The reason is because the transfer bus dropped me off a good hike past the outside check-in desk (Southwest Airlines.) I then needed a porter, who I had to tip, and had to walk (difficult for me) back. A cab would have left me off directly in front of the check-in desk.

We got off of the Eurodam on Feb 14th and flew home that day and the airport was mobbed....so just make sure you leave yourself enough time. The baggage checkin was through the whole section inside and out the door down the sidewalk. It took my husband over an hour in the line. And then another line for security.

We also didn't get off the boat until 10am...it was about 8:30 I think when they started disembarking.

Have fun!

Ask for late disembarkation and take a taxi. Here is my recommendation though... When you get your luggage in the cruise terminal, use a porter. We've experienced this every time we've cruised. The porter will take you and your luggage right through customs and right to a taxi. They bypassed the long taxi line and put us right in a waiting taxi. Sure, we tipped him but that was better than having to stand in line at the terminal (the airport line was bad enough).
