A Few Questions From A First Timer

Recommended Posts

I just made my final payment:eek: for our June LOS cruise and have a few questions I could use some help with.

1. Does the Seapass have a slot on it to be clipped to a lanyard or does it need to be slipped into a pocket on a lanyard? Also, do people use lanyards or will my children think Im a dork?

2.On Labadee, can you sign up for excursions once you are off the boat? We know we want to kayak but with all the teens in our group (10) we are not sure when it will fit best into the day (when will they have bugged the c**p out of us adults and we want to get the heck away from them!)

3.Also on Labadee, does the ship staff run things to do for the teens on the beach?

4.I thought I read somewhere that the teens have an "all white night" or something? Is this true and what other special parties might they have that they would need special clothing (colors, types)

Like the above poster said, the people at Guest Relations can punch the hole for you. I've seen a few people walk around with them around their necks. I wouldn't bother but who cares what I think? Go for it. :)

Your kids will think that you are a dork no matter what, so don't worry about that. I used to use the lanyards, but I find them annoying now. I would rather be sure that some piece of clothing that I'm wearing has a pocket.

Also, there are lanyards that have a clear plastic rectangular holder at the end, and you can just slip the card into it instead of needing a hole.

Also, there are lanyards that end in a clip instead of a hook.

But the people at the Guest Relations Desk (Purser's Desk) on Deck 5 will be happy to punch a hole in your card (carefully so that it doesn't interfere with the magnetic strip) for hanging from either a lanyard or a wrist boingy thing.

2.On Labadee, can you sign up for excursions once you are off the boat? We know we want to kayak but with all the teens in our group (10) we are not sure when it will fit best into the day (when will they have bugged the c**p out of us adults and we want to get the heck away from them!)

See? You have teenagers. You are doomed to a perception of dorkdom. Get used to it. :D

You can wait until you hit Labadee. Or you could have a family meeting the sea day before and decide on your Labadee activities. The excursion desk will have afternoon and evening hours that day if you want to book something then. (also on Deck 5, right next to the Purser's Desk)

Can't help you with those last things.

Have a great cruise!

I carry a small purse/bag--for lipstick, comb, tissues, etc....it's a long way back to the cabin everytime you need to do a quick "fix-up" on your hair or face!

Some will wear lanyards---if you don't mind looking like a conventioneer, go ahead!

Hi, I can sympathise with the dork thing; my beautiful DD is just 10 and at the very beginning of thinking we are embarrassing.......sigh

If you ask this same question on the Crusing with Families board, someone over there will know the answers, they're very helpful!

With the Seapass question, I carry a small shoulder purse so put my seapass in there. I usually either hang onto DD's card or get her a pink neck strap/lanyard new off ebay and she puts her seapass in that. As long as it's a pink strap, it's cool!

But be sure to post the question re. teen stuff over on Families board and I'm sure someone will know.

Good luck!

Be careful putting it in your pocket. I've had it slip out in the hot tub. Got it back as we had only walked inside from the solarium on Explorer, but had I not noticed, or the man who found it not been honest, it could have been bad.

I now have a lanyard. I use them at work as well so I'm rather used to it.

And yes, no matter what you do your kids will probably think you're a dork. Damn kids...:D:D:D

spring, if you want to look less dorky - I use one of those springy things they give you at casinos (if you have one near you). They have a ring at the end and when Guest Relations punches a hole in the card, you can attach it to the ring and clip one end to your clothing (belt loop or something) and put the card in your pocket - this way you always have it handy and you won't lose it.

Is that undorky enough? hahaha. I use mine all the time no matter where I go. As MM said, you can also get one that you wear on your wrist. I got some at Oriental Trading.

Thanks for all the good laughs and advice. I have been and will be a dork for years! Youngest is 12 and a fashionista for sure. I doubt she will even acknowledge me on the cruise:p Older two are better but sometimes all it takes is me opening my mouth and I'm doomed. You all know how that is! I took your advice and posted over on the family board. Thanks for all your help.
