Which pier in San Juan for Adventure of the Seas?

Recommended Posts

Pan Am pier is correct. There are no hotels in the immediate vicinity so your best bets are either in Old San Juan or in the Condado section. Both are relatively short cab rides from the pier. Hotels in Isla Verde, while near the airport, are a longer cab ride to the ship.

General rule of thumb in San Juan is that usually (but there are exceptions, of course) when a ship is visiting for the day, they use the Old San Juan ports. When the ship is turning around and starts/ends from San Juan, the Pan-Am pier is used.

Most of the hotels in Old San Juan or the Condado are a short ride to the pier.

To help, here is a Google Map of the area. If you look at the satellite view, the pier is the two white buildings.

In February we stayed at the Condado Plaza Hotel on Ashford Avenue. It's one of the closest hotels and was quite nice. We had a corner room facing the Pam Am pier so we woke up to see the Adventure docked and waiting for us. We will definitely stay there again.

In late Oct/06, before our Regal Princess Panama Canal cruise, we stayed at the Hotel Miramar on Ponce de Leon Ave in the Miramar section which is the closes hotel to the Pan Am pier that is about 1/2 mile away on Isla Grande. It is a smaller hotel that was quite nice with very large rooms and a very friendly staff. It's location is just the other side of Hwy #1 from Isla Grande area but it is difficult to walk with luggage between the hotel and pier because of having to cross the many lanes of that highway and the off ramps there. You can actually see the ship at the Pan Am pier from in front but there is a taller government building blocking the view from the hotel including it's roof which has an observation area. Go to

We also stayed in the Miramar area last month, at the Marriott Courtyard San Juan Miramar, on Ponce de Leon Ave. Very nice hotel. It was less than a 10 minute ride to the PanAm pier, maybe a $15 taxi fare. Many taxi's lined up outside on Saturday morning, no waiting.

Anyone know what time they will let you in the cabin (even just to drop off your carry-on piece of luggage) on the AOS in San Juan? Just curious because I know you can board at lunch and it doesn't sail until like 8:30 p.m.
