Cej06466 Posted May 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2009 I am just as sick of this swine flu BS as everybody else but just thought I should pass it along that they have cancelled Mexico Calls until the middle of June.
poobears Posted May 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Where do you see that? Did they update their site? Wish they'd just do it to the end of June so I'd know we were getting 7 day :)
Crusin6 Posted May 4, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Not that we are doing any better........but the ramifications to the Mexican economy are too numerous to mention. Yes, I know the "swine whine" is more important than the economy.:D
livsmom Posted May 4, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Where did you find this information? I am just wondering where I am going on a cruise to?
rlj1010 Posted May 4, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Yep, its on the Carnival.com revised itineraries page. I'm a little bummed out. I was hoping that my revision would be San Fran/Seattle/Victoria.... instead of Astoria, Victoria, Vancouver, which we got instead. but whatever. i'm not cancelling. And $100 OBC per person. poobears Posted May 4, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 4, 2009 If it's true, maybe I'll bump my cruise back a week, it's already cheaper then we are paying, so is the week after. We picked the high week I guess. Of course I'd have to pay a $50 pp early saver fee to change but it would be worth it if we can swing a 7 day with it. poobears Posted May 4, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Oh now I see it, I was looking at the update page, not the itinerary update page. Looks like they only changed it until June 6 on Fantasy so I'd have to move it back quite a bit. Would be doable if DH can change his vaca at work. Cej06466 Posted May 4, 2009 Author #12 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Its right on the Carnival site under updated Itineraries... does anyone know if they are offering any OBC on Caribbean itineraries?
poobears Posted May 4, 2009 #13 Share Posted May 4, 2009 You have to click on the information by the changed itinerary to see if yours offers OBC or not. The one I'm looking at moving to doesn't.
momtothom Posted May 4, 2009 #14 Share Posted May 4, 2009 We're sailing June 13th and are actually hoping they'll cancel our 5 day to Progresso and Cozumel and change it to a 7 day to Montego Bay and Grand Caymans. :) Jenane
iEmpire Posted May 4, 2009 #15 Share Posted May 4, 2009 For cruises that have a port such as Ensenada canceled without a replacement port mentioned, where does the boat go? Does it visit another port twice or just go off shore so that the casino can be opened?
Stallion Posted May 4, 2009 #16 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Read that Carnival page closely if you are affected through mid June-there's an early notification deadline if you don't want the new iteniary in order to receive the credit. See below "If you are currently booked on a modified sailing which departs between May 14, 2009 and June 15, 2009, you must advise Carnival of the cancellation of your current cruise by May 7, 2009 in order to be eligible for the future cruise credit." MamaParrotHead Posted May 4, 2009 #17 Share Posted May 4, 2009 I wonder if it's possible they'd change it back to the original itins? I was just reading on abcnews.com about how Mexico is reopening all their "non-essential" businesses tomorrow, and how even one of the officials at the CDC thinks it may not be as big of a deal as they were predicting. http://abcnews.go.com/Health/SwineFlu/story?id=7494506&page=

Amber F Posted May 4, 2009 #23 Share Posted May 4, 2009 For most I know the news is not so good, but for those of us hoping to jump on one of these ships last minute, good news. Now I'm just waiting for the cancellations to start and the prices to drop for the 5/24 sailing, and I am on my way.
Stallion Posted May 4, 2009 #24 Share Posted May 4, 2009 I would think there might be some good deals on Western but I expect prices to rise on the Eastern and Southern Caribbean
