aclay Posted June 19, 2009 #127 Share Posted June 19, 2009 New ships well might be longer, look for more places like International cafe etc on plaza deck, more details later. yours Shogun Your right Shogun - I heard that as well from a crew member on the Crown - so I can confirm that rumour. Same height just longer ships.. It will be quite a walk from one end to the other then I guess :)

Shogun Posted June 20, 2009 Author #131 Share Posted June 20, 2009 Hi All, Some news for you, Hand Gels being taken away CDC says cleanest ships do not have them the ships that use them the most have the most Noro so just wash those hands. Princess getting some new gel in Europe to try that says can kill Noro and other viruses but not out in US yet. There was a small cabin fire this morning those smokers were at it again. more latter yours Shogun
Kevin1 Posted June 20, 2009 #132 Share Posted June 20, 2009 Shogun, Not sure if you are aware that above ship has had a major engine room fire which has caused cancellation of current cruise & the next. Ship is to go to dry dock for repair (maybe towed there) it is currently in Port Said. Thank God no one hurt. Regards Kevin
caber Posted June 20, 2009 #133 Share Posted June 20, 2009 Hi Shogun, When we were on Sea Princess in January the hand sanitizers were in the dining room for our first week but had gone when you boarded the second week. I think the cruise before us had an outbreak. How is the weather? It`s nice if you get it good all the way home.:)

Princess getting some new gel in Europe to try that says can kill Noro and other viruses but not out in US yet. There was a small cabin fire this morning those smokers were at it again. more latter yours Shogun Probably a wise decision. Alcohol based Purell is effctive against bacteria, but reportedly is not a virus deterrent. I use it frequently at home, after the loo and priior to food prep. However, The best, and likely only, virus protection is to wash your hands w/soap in warm water for a minimum 20 seconds, two minutes being better. A prime motive for removing Purell is that it may provide a false sense of security to those who assume it replaces hand washing. Shogun, there may be a euro citizen on board who knows the name of the antiviral stuff?

Could Princess be about to buy some ships :D:D. This morning was out and about before 9.00am it was like a ghost ship. UK passport control are on board we all did this this morning on a sea day never seen this before. 2nd CC meeting went well PSD did question and answer which went well CC folk liked chance to speak to a Princess person, there is so little contact between passenger and ship. Did I say new captain is Captain Nash. yours Shogun

Shogun Posted June 21, 2009 Author #141 Share Posted June 21, 2009 Hi all, OK so you are all awake, Princess has drawings out and about with details of new ships, getting feed back etc still at design stage but basically a super grand size ship. As to profit centres most costs are for control of numbers not to make money, casino already makes them enough profit. What about the cabin fire , no replies to this. Teens on board being teens you know swap the private sign to service please, move the clocks to different times move the ballons on the doors etc. Went to Muts last night fine evening, lady next to me from Florida, start of by saying she was cold, then very cold when she lost feeling in fingers thought she had frost bite, temp was around 14c. Ok I did not have my shorts on but still had my T shirt. Mrs Shogun hit the jackport on a slot machine however was not a massive winning machine but a few hundred dollers was night. Well Ireland today 3rd sea day tomorrow, weather as expected cool cloudy may be a few spots of rain, however a lot of the ship look like they are going to the artic. yours Shogun

Shogun Posted June 21, 2009 Author #144 Share Posted June 21, 2009 Hi There, I get off when Captain Nash boards, if you mean Captain Crash sorry heard that one before. OK Since know one wants to know about cabin fire I will tell you any way, lady was smoking and putting cigs out in paper towel and putting them in waste basket in room, hence fire, understand she has been requested to leave ship. There was a fire call in small hours this morning in a crew toilet, I assume one of the crew went for a smoke and set the alarm off, Well Cobh is very nice, distance to railway station for Cork is length of gangway, not much to do here very nice little art gallery well worth a look and plenty of pubs, weather is cooler but still very nice might be a shower later. yours Shogun

caber Posted June 21, 2009 #146 Share Posted June 21, 2009 Hi Shogun, The new ships would fail, just gaining profits from the casino, if all the passengers were like me. I never go there.:) The weather here today is not too bad. There was a slight shower but the wind has dropped and it is warmer than the last few days. Next week`s forecast is good so you should get a good end to the cruise. Glad the passenger who started the fire was thrown off. That is dangerous. Happy cruising, Caber. Shogun Posted June 21, 2009 Author #148 Share Posted June 21, 2009 Hi Folks, The good folks of Cobh did us proud, first they organised a heat wave, blue skies and a hot sun. Next there was a town party, bands etc, street fare thousands of folks flooded the town. Excellant sail away quay side lined etc the way it should be little boats following us captain giving extra blasts on ships horn. Its such a pity that most days ships dock in container ports, those staying on for Greenock will have another nice sail away to look forward to. Trains were running every 30 minutes just for us, saw posters in town telling them we were coming, well done town council. Over all a great port of call. yours Shogun

Maybe the time has finally come to ban smoking in the cabins/balconies and monitor it with smoke detectors. We'll be on the Crown on July 7th - hope it wasn't our cabin!
