brucory Posted June 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 22, 2009 Not a very nice story at all.... What is the enterprise 2000? This post may be better placed in the ports section, for Toronto...:confused::confused:
YXU AC*SE Posted June 22, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 22, 2009 Enterprise 2000 = Booze cruise party barge http://www.torontocruises.com/boat.html Scott.
Pete Jackson Posted June 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 22, 2009 Clearly, its a local party boat, not a cruise ship. It was doing a tour of Toronto Harbour!
jhannah Posted June 22, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 22, 2009 They called it a cruise ship, and I guess it is since it plys the water for a while taking in views of the harbor and skyline. But it's not what we think of as a cruise ship.

R&CCruisers Posted June 22, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 22, 2009 And why is this important on the HAL board? I like positive news.
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 22, 2009 #8 Share Posted June 22, 2009 Thanks for the link. We used to go to Toronto a lot -- sure glad we don't like that kind of a "cruise".
kakalina Posted June 22, 2009 #9 Share Posted June 22, 2009 This didn't even happen on the cruise ship but in the parking lot near it.
tomc Posted June 22, 2009 #10 Share Posted June 22, 2009 I would have written the Toronto newspaper story this way: TORONTO-- Police have confirmed that two men died from stab wounds after an altercation in a parking lot at 242 Cherry St., early yesterday morning. Andy James, 26, and Brandon Ramdeen, 27, were found suffering from stab wounds. James was taken to hospital by friends and later died; Ramdeen was rushed by ambulance, but he, too died. 37-year-old Edwin Modest and 19-year-old Kimron Bengy have been charged with murder in the deaths. Investigators believe an argument on a nearby harbor cruise boat spilled out onto the parking lot prior to the stabbing. [see Colakid's URL for how the newspaper reported it.]
cruisinjudy Posted June 22, 2009 #11 Share Posted June 22, 2009 I agree Tom, your version of the report is much more accurate. The media likes to put in that Cruise ship stuff to get people to read the story.
jhannah Posted June 23, 2009 #12 Share Posted June 23, 2009 It's always amazing to me how many media writers write about things of which they have no knowledge. The major networks have correspondents who specialize in their fields (aviation and space, for instance.) They are therefore familiar with terminology and "how things work" in that industry/field. Very few newspapers and local electronic media have such educated reporters. So few would know the difference between a ferry and a garbage scow. woodworker&knitter Posted June 23, 2009 #13 Share Posted June 23, 2009 Toronto is situated on the shores of Lake Ontario. The "harbour" is certainly not deep enough to allow cruise ships in. The party boats are allowed to "cruise" the waterways. This certainly was not the first stabbing in Toronto, and I'm sure that all of you who have read this thread have heard of stabbings where you live. Don't let this stop you from ever visiting Toronto. It is a very diverse city with so much to see.
MacThespian Posted June 24, 2009 #14 Share Posted June 24, 2009 And why is this important on the HAL board? I like positive news. Uh, it's NOT on the HAL board, it's on the Canada board.
