Ship cruise ends in slaying

Recommended Posts

Not a very nice story at all....

What is the enterprise 2000?

This post may be better placed in the ports section, for Toronto...

:confused::confused::confused:

It's a harbor cruise party boat. :rolleyes:

I would have written the Toronto newspaper story this way:

TORONTO-- Police have confirmed that two men died from stab wounds after an altercation in a parking lot at 242 Cherry St., early yesterday morning.

Andy James, 26, and Brandon Ramdeen, 27, were found suffering from stab wounds. James was taken to hospital by friends and later died; Ramdeen was rushed by ambulance, but he, too died.

37-year-old Edwin Modest and 19-year-old Kimron Bengy have been charged with murder in the deaths.

Investigators believe an argument on a nearby harbor cruise boat spilled out onto the parking lot prior to the stabbing.

[see Colakid's URL for how the newspaper reported it.]

It's always amazing to me how many media writers write about things of which they have no knowledge. The major networks have correspondents who specialize in their fields (aviation and space, for instance.) They are therefore familiar with terminology and "how things work" in that industry/field. Very few newspapers and local electronic media have such educated reporters. So few would know the difference between a ferry and a garbage scow.

Toronto is situated on the shores of Lake Ontario. The "harbour" is certainly not deep enough to allow cruise ships in. The party boats are allowed to "cruise" the waterways.This certainly was not the first stabbing in Toronto, and I'm sure that all of you who have read this thread have heard of stabbings where you live.

Don't let this stop you from ever visiting Toronto. It is a very diverse city with so much to see.
