I assume you have scanned through all the hundreds of posts that outline all the perks. Biggest that might get his attention is eating breakfast and lunch at Cagneys which we LOVED.

Getting priority boarding and getting off, especially at tender ports is great. And on last day.

Extra room in cabin is always great too!

But, I have to agree. $400 is $400. These are all VIP type things and not real dollar items. dollars that could be used for other stuff. Based on our current finances, I would do it. A few years ago, nope!

i never had a suite...but to us it would not be worth it. $400 ,for me, would be a great excursion. on the spirit, we felt like we were suite passengers....but wouldn't use the extra perks even if we had them.

we aren't in the cabin long enough to enjoy it....

I would have said yes immediatly and almost did (should have) But my husband is right we are lucky to be going. Luckily I booked back in November or I would not be going. His job Has been hit hard with the economy. He works at a Dealership. More room would be nice .

SO TRUE!

my DH has gone from over 15 years of selling RVs to working food and beverage at the casinos (working to being a poker dealer).

life has done another turn-a-round for us.

he got tired to wondering if he was every going to make another sale.

no matter what cabin you have, you will enjoy the spirit and her ports.

the ship is great.

Definitely go for it!!! The suite perks are the best around!!!

Butler, Concierge, VIP embarkation/disembarkation, priority tender tickets, breakfast and lunch in Cagneys (no fee), special butler's room service menu, canapes every night, espresso machine in the suite, DVD library, the list goes on and on......

For $400 it's a STEAL!!!

I say listen to your husband. It isn't worth the stress to your marriage. But sure would be tempting ;). We were offered a move to a mini suite from an OV on our last cruise for $400.!!! (so you got a good offer!) We turned it down as we were already onboard and settled in our cabin for the second part of a B2B on the Jade - plus we really didn't need to be spending that many extra unplanned $$'s, AND we had another cruise planned in a few months...

Such a decision! But another consideration is whether or not one of the percs is free liquor delivered to your room, if you drink. Is that a perk for AD's? Check it out, or maybe someone else here knows. That could counter a bar bill.

But I spent some time reading a thread about suite perks today, and I would find a way to manage if I could. How soon do you sail? Can you get a good hotel room rate on Priceline? Do you have a frequent flyer charge card to get your flight/s free? I guess if the upsell fairy called, it's close to the sail date, tho. So if I could, and DH would concede, I'd do it in a minute! Look at it this way, it may be your last cruise, and for $400.00 more it could be the cruise of a lifetime!

Good luck on the decision, and let us know what you decide; we'll all be pulling for you being able to make it work. :o

No free liquor for the AD. Only for AA's and above.

One more thing. I currently have $250.00 on board credit. My travel agent said NCL will not give her an answer if i am going to loose it if I move. They said they would not answer that until the change was done. She did say I would definatly get $50.00

I have to smile whenever I hear someone say they aren't in the cabin long enough, when they talk about suites....

If I had an inside cabine I would NEVER be in ours, I would spend as much time as possible elsewhere...

You would probably spend much much more time in your cabin, IF it were a suite! ;)

When and if you to decide to take it, inform about the OBC. I would be interested to know if the credit is lost. I currently have a $600 OBC for a Sept cruise and would like to be somewhat informed "just in case".

I sure wouldn't be happy to have to lose $250. in OBC plus pay $400. more. Sure it's a suite, but that's puts you -$650. before the extra tips... MY DH would not find that acceptable at all!

I am currently in a balcony on the Spirit. I can upgrade to a AD suite for $400.00. I say yes husband says no (bad economy) Should i put myu foot down and just upgrade...LOL

Is that $400 in total or, is that $400 pp? If it's the former; go do it; that's a great deal. If it's the latter; well, $800. may be a deal breaker.

What ever you do, have a great cruise!

The butler and consierge are overrated. Our consiege did 0 for us. Use the $400 to buy wine, eat at the specialties or for an excursion. We were upgraded from AF to AD for 300 total and it was fun for a one time experience, but except for the 2 free bottles of wine, we would have been fine in the AF. We could only eat breakfast at Cagneys 3 times because of early shore excursions (Med) and were only on the ship for lunch two days. Don't upset your DH.
