HB Cruiser Posted July 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2009 Someone correct me but I think Freedom and Liberty are the only RCCL ships that are fresh water pools. All others are salt. Tim

Tim and I believe Independence? Basically all Freedom class are fresh water, the rest salt.
Cruzaholic41 Posted July 12, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2009 is it fresh or salt water? Is there a specific ship you want to know about? All Freedom Class ships are fresh water. The rest are salt water.
rfendt Posted July 12, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 12, 2009 We were on the Explorer 9 day 6/25 - 7/4 and all pools were salt water (right from the ocean!)
unklez Posted July 12, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 12, 2009 Do you really care what kind of water they have? I mean really?
Lidolounger Posted July 12, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted July 12, 2009 Nope, I don't care about the water, but I'm researching RC for a friend who does. They are considering either Radiance or the class after the Radiance class. Sorry, but I'm familiar with Princess, haven't sailed on RC yet. I appreciate the help - she's looking at a med cruise in July of next year.
left the dog at home Posted July 12, 2009 #9 Share Posted July 12, 2009 We were just on the Mariner and Captain Johnny said all their pools, etc. are fresh water.
ChipLondon Posted July 12, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 12, 2009 Do you really care what kind of water they have? I mean really? Sure some people do care about the water in the pools, as they have concerns about the chemicals added to those that are not simply sea water. For some this is about allergies, which could be serious, and for others (mainly women) it is about how some chemicals can ruin expensive swimwear. Many only want heavily treated water, because of unthinkable things that some people do in the pools. Although rest assured all pools are treated in some way. pam_1024 Posted July 12, 2009 #11 Share Posted July 12, 2009 Enchantment has 1 fresh water and 1 salt water pool and the pool in the Solarium is, I believe, salt water.
fanfare Posted July 12, 2009 #12 Share Posted July 12, 2009 Splendour had one fresh and one salt water - the solarium one was fresh water as I recall.
unklez Posted July 12, 2009 #13 Share Posted July 12, 2009 ......... Many only want heavily treated water, because of unthinkable things that some people do in the pools. Although rest assured all pools are treated in some way. Either type of water is treated with enough chemicals to kill even the toughest germs. Of course it is unfit to drink for humans. So it *should* be not really a concern.
Mollypuss Posted July 12, 2009 #14 Share Posted July 12, 2009 Do you really care what kind of water they have? I mean really? Yeah really, I do care. I cannot swim in saltwater and then sit in the sun....I have an allergic reaction. I learned the hard way by spending several hundred dollars at the medical center on board cruising 8 years ago. Hives all over and the pain was unbelievable...it felt like I was being stung by bees. Then the swelling set in. Not pretty. I always rinse off really well when at the beach, but didn't think to do it on the Adventure. Just returned from the Freedom and it was heaven being able to swim in the pools and not worry about hives. All of the pools are fresh water on Freedom class ships. thetwins Posted July 13, 2009 #15 Share Posted July 13, 2009 Off Mariner 1 week ago (sigh...) and it was definitely salt water in the main pools. Surprisingly warm, though, and very buoyant, so the kids loved swimming in it!
cruisinmom1 Posted July 13, 2009 #16 Share Posted July 13, 2009 I do like the fresh water; the salt is horrible if you get some in your mouth. Also, you should rinse off after; actually with both a rinse is in order.
