We love RCCL, but...

Recommended Posts

Thanks very much for that. We have not been on a ship with one of those monsters on it, but what you describe is what we imagine it to be. A TV blaring while you are trying to relax by the pool (and TV NEWS , no less). If it happens, we are done cruising.... We will switch to land based resorts. No Giant TVs on the beach (yet). Sometimes I wonder if our entire society has ADHD and a constant need for something loud and flashy nearby in order not to be bored.

Yep, that describes it perfectly. Music concerts (Mariah Carey was one of them when we were at the pool) blasting at 2 in the afternoon. Beyond annoying. And even worse, infomercials for the cruise line. I always thought I wanted to be on a ship with a big screen until I was ON a ship with a big screen.

My wish list:

1: REDUCED 3rd/4th person rates - just one special, that's all I need. ;) Paying $899 for a kid is hurting my ability to cruise more often (and no, leaving them at home is not an option) NCL and CCL both have rates that are in the $99 range. So how about it RCCL??????

2. Better food. I don't know what is it. As much as I love the RCCL ships, the food in the dining room is just not as tasty as other cruise lines. How many times have we've seen loyal Royal Caribbean cruisers come back from a Carnival cruise saying how great the food is on CCL? We know that CCL doesn't have a higher food budget per passenger. So why is the quality of food and food taste declining on RCCL????? My advice, get rid of the people who created the current menus/recipes - hire someone from CCL.

How about bringing back the drink card? It was a nice package where you could get 12 preordered drinks for about $42 - $45 plus 15% grat.

Don't want to hear that they are losing money either. I saw on some cruise show that if they sell just one drink per passenger they have already made money.

You knew someone had to post this "CRAP" as they mention. They treat me very nice and I am a diamond member. I love RCCL!

They treat me just great and I have only sailed 3 times..lol..no complaints from me :p

NCL greets you with Champagne or orange juice. Most ships have irons to use free of charge but they don't have laundry washing rooms like Princess. I cruise all lines that I can afford but so far the main reasons that I did not like RCI are:

1. The food was truly awful compared to Carnival and NCL.

2. The singing waiters.... how utterly demeaning to them

and for me. :o

3. The crew were not near as friendly as Carnival or NCL.

4. The steward I had knew nothing about cleaning. My cabin was terribly dirty with makeup powder on the vanity when I checked in, dirty mirrors, hair all over the bathroom floor, shower had built up scum, hair on my bed linens. I did not enjoy sleeping in that cabin at all. Yes, I pointed all those things out to her but she seemingly didn't understand a word I said.

I'm glad there are enough cruise lines to make sure we all get what we want.

Happy cruising:)

Carnival food was BETTER???!!! no way...I have sailed 3 ccl and 3 rc and hands down rc is better...and rc's crew is WAY nicer, hands down!!!!

1. have a kids club for kids starting at 2 (or be a bit flexible if the kids are going to be three in a few weeks to go into the AO). The one hour play time in the card room is stupid for my 2 year old who will be 3 in 3 months

2. walking us to our room? i guess if there was free drinks as you board and you got drunk, that would be useful but i would assume walking all guests to their room would take forever and the then how am I going to get to the WJ to eat??? lol...jus being a bit of a smart ass

3. more kid activities (can you see the trend) so the adults who are shelling out the $$$ can take a relaxing vacation...

4. on board laundry would be good for kids clothes so I dont have to bring so many bags and get charged by the airlines

5. large screen movies would be a good idea with FREE popcorn, dare I ask for flavoured???

6. other than that - i havent been on any other cruise lines so i can only guess from what i hear and read

27 more days to go!!!!!

I know that we all obviously love RCCL since we are on these boards, but what have you seen other cruise lines do that would just put RCCL over the top if they did this too? You never know who might be reading these threads. It couldn't hurt to put a wish list out there. :)

Please install a self-serve laundry!!:)

OMG...no, please, no. The last thing I want to do is my laundry while I'm on a cruise ship. RCL please do not put laundromats in:eek:

This is fine if you are on a 5 or 7 day cruise. Our RC cruises have been 22 days, 11 days and 7 days. Having a laundromat would have been wonderful!!:)

I was on the Celebrity Constellation last October and the embarkation champagne was a nice touch but the area got a little crowded and I drank the champagne fast to avoid spilling it on anyone.

I figured out what to do to take the edge off embarking the Explorer of the Seas this past March. Immediately after boarding and going through security, I walked up a stairway to the casino. Then I took the stair in the casino up to the Promenade. There was a bar open at the top of the stair. I just had a small carryon so I sat at a bar stool with my carryon at my feet. Had as many drinks as I wanted to take the edge off. Of course, I paid for them with my cruise card. There are no free drinks and there is no free lunch. Well, I know that on board lunches are included with the cruise fare! At the Weekend Warrior Sports Bar on the EOS,the bartender was kind enuf to direct me to an uncrowded elevator at embarkation! I understand that the bar in a similar location on the MOS is called Vintages. Vintages for me in a few weeks, to take the edge off of embarkation!!!!:p

They should have lighted arrows for those of us who would like to sit down at a bar as soon as we board. Lighted arrows directing us to the bar.:D

Disembarkation:Some ships on other cruise lines have allowed me to stay in my cabin until my disembarkation color is called. Holland America were particular to tell me that easy disembarkation was arranged. It was much easier going directly from my stateroom to the disembarkation line than going to a disembarkation area, finding a seat, and then going to the disembarkation line.

Miscellaneous:The in-cabin refrigerators on EOS just didn't seem as cold as the refrigerators on other cruise ships I have been on. So I vote for colder refrigerators!

And the return of a totally smoke-free ship like the Carnival Paradise was years ago. I like clean air with my booze no matter what bar I choose:eek:

I saw that NCL had a bowling alley on some of their ships. That would be awesome!
