SusiejaneUK Posted July 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 25, 2009 Not the best news I've ever heard (scheduled to embark next Saturday). Is anybody aware of recent problems having been reported with the propellor on the Grand?

julieh Posted July 26, 2009 Author #10 Share Posted July 26, 2009 We finally left Livorno 6 hours late on reduced power and arrived in Civitavecchia 1 hour late this morning. Still we made it and it and had a great day in Rome.It fell right for us as it was the last Sunday in the month and the Sistine Chapel was open till lunchtime. We saw inside St Peters and the chapel. Anyway problem seems to be fixed and we sailed on time tonight heading for Sardinia. We have had great ports on this cruise but it is so tiring as you want to see so much and it is so HOT!! mise Posted July 26, 2009 #19 Share Posted July 26, 2009 hi glad you got on your way again algerho is a lovely port we did this itenary on the sea princess last year and we broke down in gibraltar and we were 10 hours late getting back to southampton the problem was the propulsion unit sounds like princess are unlucky on the med voyages. hope it gets sorted it hopefully will be by the time we go next year. have a lovely cruise but yes would agree that this itenary wonderful as it is is very exhausting. leoandhugh Posted July 26, 2009 #20 Share Posted July 26, 2009 That excessive heat is all over the Mediterranean high 90s from Madrid to Athens and wildfires burning in Spain, Corsica, Sardinia. At least the Grand is moving along her intended itinerary and the ship is a/c. But it can be very exhausting to have all that heat on shore excursions on a very port intensive itinerary. We never do the Med or the Aegean until at least October - fewer crowds and cooler:)
