jollycruise Posted August 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2009 We just booked our next cruise on the Dawn (again :)) and this time we are staying in the AD/Romance Suite. I did find another thread with a little bit of info, but am looking for a little more. I was wondering from those who have stayed in that category how they liked the cabin and what perks came with it. I saw that "glenellen1" was staying in the same cabin we are (#10226) so if your out there glenellen1 I would love to hear from you! :D Thanks, JollyCruise

If you sail before that, make sure you come back and post a review to help me prepare! :)

oceannotion Posted August 4, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 4, 2009 I am also interested in the opinion of this stateroom. I would think that there are many CCers who have stayed in 10226 on prior journeys. Your insight would be very helpful to those who are considering this Dawn AD. BELIEVE them when they say oversized towels. THEY ARE HUGE... LOL.. 2. Four cruises on NCL and I have yet to see slippers in the suite other than the ones I bring myself. Anyone else ever see NCL's slippers? I don't believe i would wear anyone elses slippers anyway (ones that had been worn by someone else) but was just curious is anyone else has seen them. The 1st time I took a shower and wrapped my hair in the towel, I about snapped my neck when I flipped my head back. LOL:D:eek: On the slipper issue. We did have slippers in the GV on the Star in February. They were still in the package, and we never used them.

prg2101 Posted August 4, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 4, 2009 I have this cabin (10226) booked for our cruise next May....I hear it is very similar to the AC suites all the way forward..I searched the cabin on the cruise deck plans dot com web and there are some pics of this cabin and many others.....;)
watchdiva Posted August 4, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 4, 2009 We sailed in this cabin 6/08 and have rebooked the same location (10226) for our 3/10 cruise. There's nothing NOT to like about this suite - the balcony is huge and easily held two padded loungers and a cocktail table with room to spare. DH and I enjoyed many meals/snacks while lounging on the balcony. Tip - move the bench from the foot of the bed and slide it underneath the counter on the wall. You'll find it makes a big difference in the amount of room you have to move around in. With no cabin on one side of you - we almost felt as though we were the only suite occupied on 10 AFT. You will love this!!

I can't believe you posted that because , as a joke, the first time we encounted those towels, I did the same thing.. wrapped my head in one and did the flip with it and thought "OMG... I'm going to need a neck brace now.. LOL".. As you can see from my pic I am not a small guy and I swear the weight of that towel almost knocked me over. Not that I'm complaining because I love them, but they are almost too big. It is a chore to dry off my big body with one of those.. LOL.. they are HEAVY.. My understanding is our butler can bring us meals from any restaurant for us to eat in our cabin. Is this correct and did you do this? I was wondering if you did, how did you like it and was there plenty of room to enjoy a full meal in your cabin? Thanks :D

Thanks :D Although we have not sailed yet in the AD on the Dawn (we will this Nov), I can tell you after being in an AC aft on the Sun and three AEs aft on the Star and Pearl that there is plenty of room for you to have your meals in your suite. And yes, the butler will bring you any thing you want to order. I even asked our last butler if he could sneak me a dessert from one of the specialty restaurants even if we did not order a meal from that particular one and he was glad to do it for me. I never did have him do it as we ended up eating at the specialty restaurant I wanted the dessert from but on the last night of the cruise he frantically searched for us and when he found us he said.."I wanted to be sure you got that dessert you wanted from Lotus Garden.. may I get one and bring it to you now? " I thought that was so sweet of him to remember. The dessert by the way was their warm banana pancakes and YES they are to die for.. LOL.

watchdiva Posted August 8, 2009 #19 Share Posted August 8, 2009 Thanks for the info watchdiva! I am so excited for this cruise, this cabin looks amazing! I do have one question about eating meals in the cabin. My understanding is our butler can bring us meals from any restaurant for us to eat in our cabin. Is this correct and did you do this? I was wondering if you did, how did you like it and was there plenty of room to enjoy a full meal in your cabin? Thanks :D We ate breakfast from Cagney's almost every morning; we ate most lunches (again from Cagney's) every at sea day; we ate dinner twice (once a "picnic" from the Venetian, Blue Lagoon, LeBistro) that the butler brought and we then put our tablecloth over the bed and ate sitting on the bed watching tv. If you order from a fee-based restaurant, you will still be charged the per person charge BUT you will be enjoying your meal in the privacy of your suite. You have a dining table in the suite which is more than large enough to serve meals for 2 (there's actually 4 chairs) and if you want the cabin to feel more spacious, ask your room steward to remove the 2 extra chairs. We always planned on dining under the stars one evening but never got around to doing it. Another tip: ask your butler to deliver the menus from all specialty restaurants to your cabin on the first day. That way you always know whats on the menu at the fee-based spots and can decide where you want to eat. Terry is right - the towels are crazy big! odblnt Posted August 9, 2009 #20 Share Posted August 9, 2009 Towels ARE huge--and heavy!! For hair washing, ask the stewards to add bath towels from a balcony cabin if you want to wrap around!! Thanks for mentioning what I was about to say. DW started using the towel animals for her morning shower... until our steward made a little mouse out of a washcloth. We mentioned it to our butler and he told the steward that we wanted at least one regular bath towel every day. No problems the rest of the cruise. glenellen1 Posted August 9, 2009 #22 Share Posted August 9, 2009 Here I am Jolly. First the suite itself is magnificent. Just enough room. You walk in to double door closets on the right, a bar area and then a huge bed with sitting area and dining table and chairs. The bathroom is nice and there is a vanity table set up between the closet and bathroom door. Expresso machine in room, double loungers and table on balcony. I personally loved being in an aft cabin. To hear the water behind you at night is just great. Towels are huge and 2 bathrobes hanging in closet. You will be lucky if you get Garfield and Marco as stewards. By the second day they knew we ate breakfast at around 8:00 (Cagney's every day!) and had our rooms all made up by the time we got back! They were great. Also towel animals every night (on my birthday - they knew because Ravi had brought me a cake when they were turning down the room - had the curtains pulled around the bed and had a towel monkey hanging from the center!) Ravi was our Butler - very quiet but really helpful (he pointed out on the first and second day that if you order 4 bottles or more of wine from a special wine list they were 20% off the price). Anshuman our concierge - didn't use him but once. Let me know if you have any more questions.
glenellen1 Posted August 9, 2009 #23 Share Posted August 9, 2009 Ravi will do just about anything. Big tip - when you first meet him ask him to bring you a menu from every restaurant on board. That way you can see what they offer before you decide. We kept them the whole trip. Also, we got sparkling water, champagne, a beautiful flower arrangement and fresh fruit bowl when we first got to the room. Every morning Ravi would freshen the fruit bowl and expresso and every night at 5:00 he would bring us a tray of either chocolate covered strawberries or tiny tea sandwiches.
