OK, I admit it...

I almost feel GUILTY about the rate our cruise has dropped to (and we're received price drop credit for). :o I got another price drop during the sale last week (where they were offering free 2 cat. upgrades) and our rate is now down to $429 for a 6C. I cannot IMAGINE the rates going any lower than that, but final payment is in about 6 weeks (though we're paid up, I'm wondering if we'll see any fluxuation at that point).

I'll happily and gleefully spend my OBC, but is anyone else feeling GUILTY? ROFLMBO  :o :p

Brag it up!!!

Why feel guilty? Enjoy the drops (extra cash) and send drops our way!!

Did you book ES and still get a drop on free cat. upgrades??

I wouldn't.

Carnival probably won't drop a price to a level that won't allow them to make at least some money off a guest (I hope that makes sense). Meaning that your fare will likely still cover the cost of your food, room and transport, while still putting at least a few shekels in their pockets.

Plus, going by the odds, you will probably still spend some money on board. They further ensure this by giving you OBC instead of cash back. If you spend that OBC in the gift shop, on drinks, gambling, or other on board services, their return percentage is huge! Since it doesn't cost them very much at all for the booze, spa services, casino staff, etc.

We originally booked military rate when the sailing was first released, and had a few price drops on that. We then switched to ES, which was in and of itself almost $75 pp savings (we've got 4 in 2 cabins). Then had a few price drops on ES before the time window disappeared for those. And then with the sale last week, I submitted another price drop form and got another $30 pp drop credit. :) It's costing us almost less, at this point, for 4 of us to go (minus the airfare) on this cruise as it was for just DH and I on our last cruise 2 years ago (same cat. and cabin).

On top of which, I organized a large group (not through groups dept, as I didn't want to work with anyone but my loyal PVP) to go, then when the Dream sailing was announced, the customer service we consequently received (in our group being notified and the mess that ensued), I contacted Guest Relations and was given a few perks (along the lines of what we'd receive as a group...some OBC for me, plus a free cocktail party, $50 per cabin OBC and photo coupons for everyone). I'm sitting on some decent OBC at this point, LOL.

Both of my Sept cruises the prices are so firm, Im thinking no chance for a cheap upgrade. The Crazies date at least has come down from the statosphere. You can now get on for a mere $729, probably a 1A??!! showing as cheapest rate on our 7 day.

Well, you could ease the guilt by donating to the bar and the casino and gift shops once you get onboard :)

I'm watching my rates carefully, and decided that if the suites drop low enough I might go ahead and switch to a suite for the first time!

I have received 2 price drops (ES) for our Feb. 13 Liberty cruise so far - totalling around $130. (8B) It is still so early, I am pretty sure others will come by! Question: once the early saver rate "disappears" what rate would I check for to see if I get a drop? The past guest rate?

Whatever rates you're eligible for...resident, past guest, military and/or senior.

I'm waiting for the day I get to feel guilty too...whistling-1.gif

Me too! We got an 8E balcony for $574/pp (after the onboard credit is taken into account)... on our upcoming 6 day Freedom cruise. It would be nice to get a price drop, but I am not really looking for that to happen.... Still keeping my fingers crossed though!!! ;)

The holidays are usually more costly, and rarely have discounts from what I have heard from friends who usually cruise over the holidays.

Honestly, I've never had any price drop...only ever had an upgrade once...from a Balcony to a Suite. thumbsup.gif

At first I felt guilty about the great rates for our 2/20/10 group cruise on the Dream ($860 each plus $100 OBC for each cabin for an 8C and even better for the other cats.) but then I thought about how far out I planned it. The wait is making up for the "guilt".:p

Enjoy your OBC and be thankful that you plan ahead.

We are at 569 pp for our valor on 10/04 and it has just gone up since our final payment...so bummed! However it was 689 when we booked so we saved 240 total almost enough to cover our flights!

I keep hoping for more drops but not holding much hope!!

Oh this was for a balcony on the empress deck

We have a 9A on the Liberty on Feb 20. Our cruise prices keep going up, up, up!! We have 3 of us in our wrap, my mom decided to join us. We inquired on getting them the wrap on deck 8 (above us, were on deck 6) and the price for her and hubby was as much as for the 3 of us. So they just booked an extended in the back. Maybe once it gets closer, prices will drop??!! I certainly will not take an upgrade, I'm staying put!!!!!
