I'm traveling solo for the first time

:) Hello everyone,

 

I've just started checking out this forum and it's great. I just wanted to introduce myself.

 

I'm booked on Vision of the Seas for a Holy Land & Egypt cruise in October 2010. It's a (slightly belated) treat to myself for my big Four-0. This has always been a dream of mine and I am beyond excited. I've sailed with family and friends in the past but this will be my first "big girl" cruise on my own. I look forward to sharing information & ideas re solo criuising.

Hi, Yvonne - and welcome to the solo forum. Think you'll find this particular group most helpful; a newbie myself, the collective insight has proven extremely valuable for this solo-by-preference traveler. Appears, also, that your quite the sea seasonsed one yourself; am certain you'll find the solo travel experience exciting, refreshing and without any deadlines or boundaries other than those you establish for yourself, now how cool is that? Btw, "Big 4-0?" You're yet the youngster, give me a break...

I have been cruising solo for 6 years now and I LOVE IT:D

 

Your itinerary sounds AWESOME:) and it is on my wish list!

 

I always try to sail on my birthday too! I sailed for 10 nights

to celebrate my 50th;)...that was last year.

When I was 40 I had not found cruising.........too bad really.

It is the best vacation my $$$ can buy!!!

Congratulations and your itinerary sounds to die for! It's one I have on my "future cruises" list! Cruising is a wonderful way to celebrate a BD, although, my dear, you're still just a puppy!;):D

I notice we are both sailing in September...you on Mercury in Alaska and me 5000 miles away on Century in the Med.

Hope you have a wonderful trip.

BTW I notice your next trip is on Summit...have you sailed her before? My only experience on M-class ships (a good one) was on Constellation but I wasn't solo on that one.

Yes, I have sailed SUMMIT before but its been awhile.

Last time I sailed her was back in Oct 2005 to the Mexican

Riveria.

I hope you have a wonderful time on CENTURY. She was

my first;) (Celebrity cruise:D).

Phil, I haven't done the Med or Europe yet but they are both on my

wish list.....hoping possibly for late 2010 (maybe).

Hmmm...

I really like San Juan Caribbean departures... you and I have both done San Juan..more fun than Fort Lauderdale. If I recall, we both did Galaxy last year for 10 nights...do you think a week will do it;)?? LOL compared to my Canadian winters a weekend would be great!!!. :)

PS..hot (for us) here now about 85 and somewhat humid...how is your weather???

sister who lives here as well. She is actually more of a caregiver

than I am....she and my bil are retired;) and I work.

But yes, cruising is a fabulous vacation:D

I took my first cruise- and it was solo- in April, and loved it so much that by the end of this year I'll have been on 4 solo cruises, and I'm already planning more for the next two years.:D

Welcome Queen Chick to the solo cruiser section!! You will find that we are a fun loving group on this board!!

I took the plunge and sailed solo in 2002 on my Alaskan cruise and got hook!! I love cruising with others, but when you are solo,it's even better!!

I would love to sail to the holy land!!!

I just booked another solo cruise for 2010. I love the longer cruises and booked a 11 day Southern Caribbean cruise for December 2010.
