Some people are pigs

On our cruise last week I saw a little boy claw through the american cheese with his fingers. His parents said nothing. In my many trips to the mens room [i drink beer] I saw men and boys not wash their hands. Come on people take what you touch and wash your hands.

I spent a lot of years as an EMT and went into a great many homes . Everything from public houseing to some of the most beautiful homes with the fanciest addresses in town and everything in between.

It would turn your stomach to see how some people live.

Nothing shocks or surprises me anymore.

I'll bet they do the same things on RCI, NCL and even Celebrity.

Why post this on the Carnival board.

I'm a nurse so I really notice hand hygiene. There are sooooooooooo many people that don't wash their hands after they toilet.

On a ship I notice it more because of all the Noro virus that goes on, and I'd say 1/3 of the people that I've noticed come out of the bathroom don't wash their hands at all or simply rinse with water, no soap and dry.

It's a very sad thing because most viruses can be contained with good hand hygiene. :-(

Another thing that gets me is people that lick their fingers in the salad bar, I mean adults, many older adults:eek: serve, swipe excess food into plate, lick fingers and repeat...............

I don't eat at the salad bar anymore, I use a paper towel to open doors leading from the bathroom, I don't hold onto the side rails on the steps, and I do NOT go into the nonchlorinated pool or hot tub (germ soup as I call them)

And no I'm not OCD or anything, but I KNOW whats out there and I don't want it ;)

Just this past weekend at a local casino I witnessed 5 guys (out of 6) in the men's room, shake, zip and bolt. They were either handling cards, dice or playing slots. You would think that with the threat of H1N1, everyone would at least wash their hands! You would also think there would be a sign at least suggesting that they do so!

And the statistics on genitel herpes is outragous, so even worse when you think about that after they touch there and don't wash, 1 in 5 americans have them

Just off a cruise today. The first night a guy at dinner said his food was seasoned with too many spices then he began to sneeze and sneeze and sneeze and sneeze without ever covering his nose or mouth. I asked him to please use a napkin which he finally did on sneeze 12. This went on for about 6 minutes until he finally excused himself.

I changed tables.

It is a little weird that you kept track of peoples bathroom habits:D but you are right. That is one of the reasons to aviod the buffet. Considering what is likely on those dice and card etc. in the casino, maybe it would be a good idea to wash before and after. I was just reading that most american paper money has trace amounts of cocaine residue so who knows what else:eek: .

:confused:Why not post it here?

I was thinking the same thing, the OP just got off a Carnival ship. I'm sure if he took a cruise on another line and noticed it there,he would post it on their boards...but I must add, we all know it does happen on other cruise lines too:mad:

Why not post in on the RCI board too?

Why not post in on the NCL board too?

Why not post it on the Celebrity board too?

Maybe he just got off of a Carnival cruise, so why not post it where he saw it? Leave him alone.

Because the poster witnessed it aboard Carnival. (According to their signature, this happened aboard the Triumph.)

I don't hold onto the side rails on the steps,

Oh, you should hold the railing, though. Even if you use hand-sanitizer after, it will ruin your vacation if you end up in a heap at the bottom of the stairs.

Why don't we resurrect the fashion of wearing gloves? Elegant and practical! :D

If you normally log onto the Carnival board instead of the other cruiselines (that maybe you don't even use) this would be the logical place to post it. I don't think it's anything against Carnival, just against people with poor habits. Lighten up..........

Doug

I totally agree with this. The OP sailed on CCL, so he was just making an observation about people on his cruise, and nothing derogatory against CCL.

This is why we rarely eat from the buffet, and when we do, we use the available hand sanitizer before and after going through the line. In fact, I get a squirt of the hand sanitizer every time I pass one of the dispensers. I'm not a "germaphobic", but common sense says you should take measures not to pick up germs on board a ship.

However, people like this are definitely not limited to cruise ships, so we should be careful everywhere we go. Once, I was in a Doctor's waiting room, when I observed a young "snot nosed" boy literally put his mouth over the water fountain nozzle and suck the water out. Needless to say, I will never drink from a water fountain again. (His mother didn't say a word to him about it, either.) Also, think about that shopping cart that you push all over the store. Have YOU ever sneezed or coughed into your hand and put your hand back onto that handle? I think everybody can answer yes to that question. Even if you wiped your hand with a tissue first, which is not always available, you didn't wipe all the germs off your hand. Think about it......:p

At our local market, they offer wipes as you walk into the store. I always clean off the handle of the cart before shopping. I've seen many a baby "teething" on those handles while shopping too...yuck!
