Glassrobinson Posted August 25, 2009 #51 Share Posted August 25, 2009 If you really want to freak out, I just read that 90% of money has traces of cocaine on it! I could not believe it was that high of a percentage. Money is one of the worst germ carriers!
Safetyal Posted August 25, 2009 #52 Share Posted August 25, 2009 But now I cannot stop thinking about all those chips I handled at the roulette table!!!:( Strictly as a public service, I am willing to take those nasty germ laden chips from all who are concerned. Your health is important to me. :D:D:D

BeeBeeCee Posted August 25, 2009 #55 Share Posted August 25, 2009 Personally, I would have told one of the buffet servers....one of my friends calls me Monk....I really don't like buffets b/c of this type of thing and the whole licking fingers thing  I know that I can't see what happens in the kitchens .....but it has to at least be less exposure than buffets with crowds of people At Casino buffets on the Miss Coast....I just eat the king crab claws and champagne. The crabs.....they come in their on case....or carapace! :D Plus ...alcohol from champagne for disinfectant...LOL
jayesouthworth Posted August 25, 2009 #56 Share Posted August 25, 2009 On our cruise last week I saw a little boy claw through the american cheese with his fingers. His parents said nothing. In my many trips to the mens room [i drink beer] I saw men and boys not wash their hands. Come on people take what you touch and wash your hands. And people wonder why I pick up spoons in the buffet line holding a napkin on the handle. Ever sit across from the mens bathroom on the Elation or Pride? You can see right into the bathroom and the urinals are right there in full view of the diner. :eek:And watch them come out one by one without washing their hands. Sorry to be gross, but that is the truth. Makes you wanna hurl.
windsmith Posted August 25, 2009 #57 Share Posted August 25, 2009 Hey, what about that bowl of after dinner mints at the restaurant? Check out this link: http://www.snopes.com/food/tainted/mints.asp :)
windsmith Posted August 25, 2009 #58 Share Posted August 25, 2009 You know, the cruise ships should have bathroom attendants - I've never seen anyone leave a restroom without washing when there's a bathroom attendant in there handing out towels. I guess it's like a kid being watched - they KNOW they're supposed to, but won't behave unless someone makes 'em.

Crusin6 Posted August 25, 2009 #61 Share Posted August 25, 2009 And the statistics on genitel herpes is outragous, so even worse when you think about that after they touch there and don't wash, 1 in 5 americans have them :eek:http://www.cdc.gov/STD/herpes/Herpes-Fact-Sheet.pdf Herpes is not the scarlett letter some would lead you to believe. BTW, though not the same "kind" of infection of course, chickenpox and shingles also belong to the herpes family. While I do not condone unsanitary practices, I do think the herpes issue is overblown.........don't ask me how I know.
Crusin6 Posted August 25, 2009 #62 Share Posted August 25, 2009 I work in catering and at a wedding one time I saw a man pick up some food with a tong and put it in his mouth , and then put the tongs back in the bowl. Its everywhere! Since most of us are still alive, it is a good testament to the antibodies we all carry.

In my many trips to the mens room [i drink beer] I saw men and boys not wash their hands. Come on people take what you touch and wash your hands. Where do you think Norovirus comes from? Yes, there are nasty people in the world. Always have been. Always will be. Personally, I have habits and they would be hard to break. Putting on a seat belt in the car is one. Washing my hands after using the restroom is another. I just would feel naked without it. Imagine the people who don't wash when you see them leave the rest room. You KNOW they are in the habit of not washing, and that they are filthy. It's not hard to understand how disease spreads. Those folks probably spend a lot more on doctor visits, too. However, if the people who are testing money for coke would instead test for germs, we may learn something useful!
DqALEX Posted August 25, 2009 #65 Share Posted August 25, 2009 Thats the reason why I won't use a hot tub on a ship unless its in my cabin.
jayscore Posted August 25, 2009 #66 Share Posted August 25, 2009 The worst bathrooms I've seen are near the ship's casinos! (I won't go into the nasty details) But my thoughts are, how many times the "table games" dealers and such have had to handle the dollar bills these "pigs" have had in their clutches. Makes you wonder.....:o
sam1148 Posted August 25, 2009 #67 Share Posted August 25, 2009 I work at a Hospital. I was getting lunch with one of the nurses and we observed one of the workers refilling the salad bar. The worker had six-inch finger nails..and wasn't wearing gloves. Worse, she was using those fingernails as 'fingernail tongs' to move salad to the buffet serving bowl from her cart. The nurse I was with was calm, to avoid a scene in the cafe, and went back to the office and reported the 'incident' to management.

velotaco Posted August 25, 2009 #69 Share Posted August 25, 2009 I'll bet they do the same things on RCI, NCL and even Celebrity. Why post this on the Carnival board. Why not?
salty dingo Posted August 25, 2009 #70 Share Posted August 25, 2009 Why not? It is a valid topic - granted this is not unique to Carnival, but is a good reason to think. Even if you do wash your hands, you can be sure there is a Mr. and Mrs. Nasty nearby who didn't. You can't help but touch what they touch, so always use the hand sanitizer before you eat. In my many trips to the mens room [i drink beer] I saw men and boys not wash their hands. Come on people take what you touch and wash your hands. Little kids I can almost excuse because there's always the chance Mom and Dad didn't notice but men and boys using the terlet without flushing is inexcusable to me. I see this everywhere and I always shake my head. On a cruise ship I rarely use the public bathrooms and if I absolutely have to, I make good and darn sure I wash my hands really really well and then I use hand sanitizer after I get out of the bathroom. Of course when someone walks out of the bathroom without washing their hands, the germs they spread are outside the bathroom which is why a bottle of hand sanitizer is always in my pocket. salty dingo Posted August 25, 2009 #75 Share Posted August 25, 2009 men and boys using the terlet without flushing is inexcusable to me. I know - it's really rude to not flush. I wonder if some of those bone-heads figure if they do not touch the flush handle they don't have to wash their hands. They probably think that while touching their most unclean parts . Thank goodness for the auto-flush machines!
