Greek fires changing anything?

World news tonight showed the fires in Greece. Will be there in a little over 2 weeks. Any impact on cruises and sightseeing? Hope all is OK -- our fires in CA probably make news shows also. Fire is a powerful thing.

So far, no, unless you were planning to visit Marathon (where there is not much to see even pre-fire for the history/archaelogy fans.) The fires remain about 20 to 25 miles north of central Athens, in the opposite direction from Pireaus cruise port.

The best place to check for tourist updates is the Athens forum of sister website tripadvisor dot com. The local Destination Experts for Athens are very active, very vocal, and very honest and helpful. (I have been following that forum daily for a year.)

Our first visit to Athens was last September (second in June); have a great trip!

Good news if the fires are under control. Watching the bad conditions in the frequent fires in CA makes you once again consider the awe of nature and the bravery of those who try to control fire.
