Concierge Class Exiting the Boat

Hi. I was reading about Concierge Class and one of the perks, it says it

Early embarkation and debarkation. Does this just apply to getting on and off the boat only or does this apply for ports as well?

Has anybody taking the Infinity and experienced any major problems getting off the boat when a ship is first into port? I am little worried about Victoria where we get into port as it is a 2 Pm Arrival and I think everybody will try getting off the boat at the same time? It this true?:)

it applies to ports as well, and is very helpful when a tender is required. You get a priority tender ticket.

It applies to embarkation and debarkation day. There is no priority for getting off the ship when docked in ports - you just can walk off when the ship is cleared.

There have been some reports that priority tender tickets are no longer a perk for concierge class - it is no longer listed as a benefit of concierge class.

It is a benefit for elite members of captain's club. I think the benefit disappeard from concierge class benefits around the time that they revamped the captain's club benefits just a month or so ago.

Just off the Summit (Venice sailing 02/08) in CC and can confirm that there is no priority given to CC when tenders are used. First come, first served via tickets given out in the theatre.

When leaving the ship, CC get to sit in the cinema with coffee and pastries until your luggage tags colour is called. You then stroll off as your bags are loaded onto the quay.

CC does not provide early embarkation or disembarkation or priority leaving the ship at ports. You will have a separate line for check in, but nothing special for disembarkation. And no one has priority for leaving the ship at a docked port. You just get off as soon as the ship is cleared. As for tender ports, it's not a perk for CC. Ship's tours get off first, suites leave next and finally everyone else via a numbered tender ticket.

There will be a notice in the daily about where to go to get the tender tickets. Tickets are handed out the morning you tender. Usually it is in the theater and then you wait until your ticket is called. Once the crowd thins out, you don't need tender tickets anymore. You can just go to the tender location and wait there.

Coming back to the ship it is first come, first served. Everyone lines up at the dock and waits.

Interesting. So I guess it makes sense to wake up, run to the theatre (or another designated spot), get your ticket, go back to the room, have breakfast or whatnot, then come back out closer to tender start? :)

We we CC and had no priority - nor coffee in the theatre prior to disembarkation!! Tendering was never an issue though. We never had to wait. The first time was Santorini and no wait there - no wait for the cable car either. We did leave ship slightly later than others though at 8.30am. At Villefranche we had a private tour and met our tour party just prior to picking up tender tickets, again no problem and straight off.

It seems that a few things that used to be part of the CC perks are no longer in effect. Does anyone know if you still get the umbrella that it lists on the CC indulgences list? I wouldn't care except I am going to Alaska in what is known as the rainy season, and if the umbrellas are no longer given out I'll pack a small one to take along.

We just sailed Concierge Class and I have no idea what the VIP invitations are!! Certainly didn't get one of those. We didn't get our seating preference either. Doesn't everyone get a laundry service, it's not free so not sure why it is mentioned.

The only good thing we found about CC was the additional choice for room service breakfast. We loved our cruise but I'm not sure the extra we paid for CC (we paid lots more for it) was worth it. If we'd only paid $100 or so then yes, it would have been worth it.

Not necessarily. We were on the 8/7 Eastern Med sailing and tender tickets were required for Santorini. People who got in line early had to be prepared to leave immediately or they wouldn't give you the tickets.

Just finished a trip on the Mercury, CC. We received priority tender tickets the night before we docked in Sitka, AK. We didn't use them since we had an excursion booked through the ship and they put us on the second tender based on the excurison. So we were in the theatre with everyone else waiting for disembarkation in port. If we had used the priority tickets we were supposed to wait in the cinema instead of the theatre for disembarkation. Not sure if this sheds any light since we didn't actually use the tickets.

We were also on the Summit Venice-Barcelona 08-02 in CC. I went to guest relations the night before tendering (for Santorini and Villefranche) and asked where to pick up the priority tender tickets and they gave us the tickets. We were asked to go to the Normandie instead of the theatre and they escorted us onto the tenders before the ticketholders in the theatre.

For disembarkation we received a letter in our cabin telling us to meet in the cinema where pastries and coffee were served. Everything was very efficient and timely.

We did receive invitations to events like the Art Auction, wine tastings, etc. but wouldn't really consider those VIP events?!

All of the other listed amenities were in our room - binoculars, umbrella, 2 different tote bags (one with a zipper, and one open), flowers, wine, canapes, robes, etc.

We enjoyed the CC service and would choose it again.

Hello

I am wondering if anyone that has sailed now, noticed that if you didn't have a tour booked from the ship, where you allowed to just get off the ship on your own? My reason for asking this is because I did read where some one said that they were not allowed off the ship to just walk around the port and there are some ports were I have planned to do this.

Thank you

I feel a little cheated now... we did not have any priority tender tickets or invitations or coffee and pastries!! We did get the bags but other than a better breakfast menu there was really no difference for us - bit of a shame.

For the most part you can always just get off the ship and just walk around.

At some ports you need to take a shuttle to the outside of the port area. This would be where the dock is inside a large industrial port and was the case at a couple ports when we cruised in Europe a few years ago. Not all of the shuttles are free. Put all this together and there "might" be a port or two where you'll have to either buy a shuttle pass, take a taxi, or an excursion to get out of the port area.

I actually went on this roll call to look for info but I could not believe what I was reading. Yes I've been on Celebrity but not again,What are you doing wondering what is in your pakages? You should know (was there, thought I lost it). :You are doing a lot of things that 'concierge service' should include including not lining up to get off the ship.

Suggest you go to HAL website and see what a real suite is like, concierge at your beck and call (I don't mean by phone, but they are available 24/7), Neptnune Lounge with really nice services food, expressos, whtever and whatever you need she/he is there.

Huge rooms (I've paid for Celebrity concierge/suite) miniscule compared to HAL. no comparison in service, and while HAL might be a bit more, probably the time to evaluate what you really want in a cruise.

If you want luxury, I wouldn't do Celebrity. If you want a standard room/verandah/whatever, not bad

but the food doesn't compare. My thoughts only

Been there done that on HAL. Yes, we were in a suite on a couple of sailings and never was the concierge at our "beck and call". If you are talking about deluxe verandah suites (which you must be if you used the Neptune lounge) you would have to jump up several catagories on X to compare the two. There are also Superior suites on HAL which don't offer the perks that you mention. Furthermore CC cabins are NOT suites and are around the same size as HAL verandah cabins, which we have also sailed in on both lines.

I don't recall the OP asking for anything other than clarification on embarkation/disembarkation policies on Celebrity so I'm clearly not understanding what the purpose of your post is unless, of course, you have a financial interest in HAL. ;)
