What's been your lowest category?

What has been the lowest category that you have been assigned and your experience?

Ours was cabin M15 on the Fantasy. I can't even tell what category this is from the Carnival web site only that it's dark blue.

Being our first cruise, our travel agent "upgraded" us to this cabin. Really loved being on the ship as it was new at the time. Loved the two tiny portholes to look out as my DW would sit in these and stare out endlessly.

The bad was it was directly over the bow thruster and near the anchor. Needless to say, it made for a bad wakeup call after a night of partying.:(

lowest was a 4a on the Riviera, but it is what we asked for, and it allows us to go on more cruises than if we went with a balcony each time.... so little time is spent in the cabin, except for sleeping, etc...

Our first cruise we had OV midship on Riviera Deck. Knew nothing about cruising, loved it! Had a balcony or better ever since. Might could go back to OV for a short cruise, but don't think I could ever do an inside cabin. I am afraid I would feel claustraphobic! Best room was the Owner's suite on NCL:D Fabulous upsell!

Don't know the category number but it was a 130 square foot (I measured it) inside cabin on the Mardi Gras, at the back of the ship. It was cheap and we didn't have much money for a vacation. That was over 20 years ago and our next Carnival cruise will be in 3 weeks. I understand Carnival has improved since our last cruise with them.

We had the same type of cabin on the Mardi Gras sooooo many years ago. Cruising has sure changed since then. The lowest Cat we have had is 1A.... we booked a quarantee 1A thinking after twenty cruise they would upgrade us but no.... got the 1A. Never did that again. Cindy

I did a day cruise to Freeport, where you leave at the crack of dawn and got back some time after midnight (yawn) and didnt even have to request a cabin if you didnt want. Wondering if this was the Julbilee, did it 3 times late 1980s I think. No cabin is probably lower than the 1As Iv had on Conquest (which we actually like)

We ALWAYS book Riviera deck--for the same reasons the other posters mentioned: to save money! The first two times it was inside cabins, the third and fourth times we "splurged" on a midship oceanview, category 6B. We love saving the money for other things, and spend very little time in the cabin anyway. (The beds are just as comfortable on Riviera!) I think the balconies are overrated anyway.....but I know many say they would never go back to not having one. For us, better not to get spoiled :D

One of the best cruises we ever went on, we booked two inside cabins, on the lowest deck, all the way to the bow.

We & our friends spent the entire trip living like royalty on the upper decks, casino, and in port spending every penny we saved on the cabins, and then crawling "home" in the wee hours to sleep.

Our accomodations have gotten better, but our friends have remained the same.

Here here... Got a OV "guarantee" and sure enough, ended up on Riviera. Everyone says to go for the guarantee--as a past guest, you "always" get up graded. NOT. LOL.

So now I pick my room and won't ever do the guarantee again and if I want to move up or change a cabin type, I'll pay for it myself.

We ONCE went with a 1A (booked it). We never book a guarantee! Typically we book either a Cat 9A or a suite.

Since I brought up the 1A: that UPPER bunk was, next to the "bed" I had in Afghanistan, one of the worst I've encountered! The beds which Carnival now has (ON THE FLOOR) - are ultra comfortable.. add in the gentle rocking, and you're hard pressed to top it!

We once did an inside on the main deck, which may be a 4B. I don't know how I was talked into that, but I never did an inside again.

LOL - I have tried a couple of times to talk Cheryl into a cheap (aka INSIDE) quickie. However she makes it no secret that she "requires" a balcony, and the bigger the better. We should have never booked that first aft corner on the Pride!!!

Back then, MrsPete and I smoked. What were we thinking?

She still smokes, but is now thrown out to the balcony to do it.

I think I have booked every outside category from an OV Rivera Deck to a Cat 12 suite. We book what we can afford at the time of booking so I have gone from windows to suites to balconies and back to windows---funny we don't miss the balcony or space if we don't have it!

We are happy as long as the cruise addiction is fed!!

fllady --- something is up with your signature... a BUG in the code or something. The last time you and I posted on the same thread, your signature somehow "captured" and included my signature in yours, and my post never showed up. This time... it also appears BUGGY!!!

FLLADY.. This is the second thread I have posted in along with you, and each time your signature has CAPTURED mine somehow!!!

When I went to post this, I could see my last post to you on this topic in the TOPIC REVIEW... but that post does not show on the main thread!

Bigduck mentioned on the other thread that he has had problems with your signature in the past as well.

Computers... don't you love 'em??

Perhaps a signature delete/rebuild is in order...

THANKS!

I'm not seeing any of this (other than the last C&P).

Perhaps it is a conflict with certain signatures... that only those people can see. Big Duck also indicated that he thought something was fishy... check out post #20 here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=20954904&highlight=#post20954904

.. also, if you go to her profile (it's not as easy as it should be) - then go to her statistics to see past posts. There is nothing beyond 8/25. Yet it's obvious that she posted today!

The 8/25 thing is affecting everybody. I reported it the other day. The same should happen if you click yourself or me.
