Just booked a cruise in Jan that leaves from PR need a hotel for the night before we sail. Friends have told us that Old Town is where they have stayed before and I am wondering if anyone has any hotel favorites??? Don't really want to spend too much, but don't want a dive either. Any help would be great.:)

Stayed at the Sheraton OSJ in May. A serviceable hotel. I had a nice upgrade to a corner Bay View room that had 2 Juliette balconies looking out to the port and the Fort up the hill. The room was much larger than the Deluxe Rooms shown, maybe because it was a corner. Just be aware that the lobby is far too small to handle all the people that come off the ship at the same time.

Good location - right at the Port in OSJ, and easy walking for all the small streets in OSJ.

Casablanca and Monastery Arts are both excellent if you like to try something different and unique.

For a mid-price Hotel, then another vote for CasaBlanca. Central OSJ, nice roof terrace for evening drinks, with reasonably priced good restaurants close by. Friends love it.

I can give a third thumbs up for Hotel Casablanca. (Be sure and check out the soaking tubs on the roof if they are still there)

Just across the street from the is a place called Fortaleza suites which is AWESOME too. The suites on the second floor all are apartment style with full kitchens.

If you aren't too hard to please and want to try something fairly quirky, you can look into Hotel Plaza de Armas. It's in a really wonderful spot with all the places you may need to shop right there on the plaza (walgreens, a grocery, starbucks and several eateries).

There are also a multitude of rental apartments throughout OSJ. You can google all the usual vacation rental sites. Be a super shopper though because the same place can be listed on a few different sites with different prices and service fees :D
