Casino Rate Cruises

I've apparently received a casino rate and didn't even know about it.

Just searching one day and priced a booking we already had and WOW saw a really good rate. My TA didn't even know about it.

Rebooked with better, lower rate.

Never received notice, email, nothing that alerted me to it.

Go figure.

We recently had casino pricing.

I was looking at cruises and clicked through to look at the cabins available in our preferred section of the ship. The last click before looking at cabins had the lower price! I was shocked. Didn't know what it was. Called our TA and she called Princess and was told we were getting the "casino rate".

We have been in the casino twice on our last 2 cruises (the first time after 13 cruises). We had nonrefundable OBC left at the end of the cruise and went into the casino to "donate" it. We ended up after those 2 visits with $5 less than when we started. Apparently, that was enough to get the lower pricing.

Didn't let that bargain go by...we booked 5 cruises over the next year:D:D

About 1 month after it appeared, it disappeared. Oh well, we are on our first of the 5 cruises this month and will be sure to drop into the casino to spend some OBC.

Those prices were SO GOOD, there have been several price drops and none of them have come close to what we paid.

I didn't know I had it either. But when I was looking at cruises the price kept dropping when I selected my cabin. I booked one cruise. Then when looking at the second passenger 1/2 price on the Caribbean getaway cruises it happened again. Booked that cruise. It wasn't until I had to call to book my sister that I learned it was the casino rate. They told me it was good until January this year. But I'm not seeing it happen anymore.

It was like a treasure hunt. Find a cruise you might be interested in, select a cabin and see what happens.

Oh yeah it is good! 35% on insides up to 15% on suites, but 25% off balconies eats my lunch. (Except Alaska, Japan and Europe "trades")

The casino rate is still active and out there. it is "capacity controlled" but booking far enough in advance gets it. I've done some mock bookings online and can still see it and it beats the Sip N Sails in the pants. (Meaning you could still buy an AIBP for 2 and still be lower than the Sip and Sail price. The 3 Free sale seems to combine with Casino rates-- so much the better.

Any easy way to determine what cruises have "Casino Rate" pricing? Can you call Princess direct and ask? Website no help..

The only way I have found is to go on the Princess site and do a mock booking. As soon as you click on the cabin number the discounted rate shows up in the box that shows the cost summary.

It doesn't work on all cruises but when it does the savings are quite nice :)

I know I didn't know I had a casino rate. I was looking at a cruise, it came up a really good price, and thought well I'll book it and let my B-I-L know, see if this was the one they wanted to go on, and thought if they didnt, I would cancel the booking.

They booked it, but didn't get the rate that I received, couldn't figure it out, then found out I had the casino rate. Also found out when I called was that it was a non-refundable deposit, nothing came up on the booking about that, so I was very happy that they picked that cruise, and I saved a few hundred $'s over them. I didn't think I spent that much in the casino on our last cruise, but glad that Princess thought I did :D

Can anyone tell me what one has to do in the casino to be eligible for a casino rate? Is it from playing the slot machines or playing the tables? Thanks!

Probably "either/or". We played the slot machines a total of about 5 times on 2 cruises. Never putting more than $50 OBC at a time. As soon as it looked like we would lose $$, we cashed out. As long as we were ahead, we kept playing. Over the 2 cruises, we lost about $5.00.

I guess I will have to vist the casino.:)

On our last 14 day (March)cruise I got a total of 200 points on my cruise card for gambling. 1000 points got you a $10 casino credit. My husband got even less. This May I got casino rates on cruises booked for 2016. I only found out after I booked a cruise and my fare was so much less than our friends. My

TA told us..no email from Princess. Booked three cruises for 2016..Princess did well, I won't gamble any more than usual, but I did book three cruises for next year. I consider it a win/win for Princess and me!!

My understanding is that in order to get the "Casino" rate, sometime during the cruise you would have to use your Sail Card (room card) in the casino - otherwise they have no record of you. If u simply play cards with cash and take any winnings ie, chips, back to the 'cage' and trade them in for cash - they have no record of who you are. If you play the slots, you pretty much have to use your sail card to get your winnings back (like that happens a lot!):D

The "Casino Rate" is not always advertised (even though some people get notifications of it), but when you go to book, it will be offered (if the program is happening) once you select your cabin.

Friends who play the tables with cash were once asked by someone in the casino if they could scan their 'card'. Of course they said yes, not knowing why. This year they got a 25% discount on the cruise. So.. If you play in the casino - get your card scanned!!

I do not gamble in casino but usually have some OBC left that may not be refundable. How long would I have to play the machines in order to possibly get a casino rates offer? Is it best to play for maybe 15 minutes and put in $50 and go back a couple of more times on the cruise and do the same thing? How are points accumulated,by the amount of time you play or how much you put in or lose?

Thought maybe I should try on my next cruise, though I do not normally gamble.Any advice?

I don't think any of us know why we got the casino rate. I know a lot of us weren't notified that we qualified for it and were pleasantly surprised when a special rate showed up when booking. We certainly have no idea if it will be offered in the future. It seems to be one of those strange Princess things that was never advertised. So I think your guess is as good as ours. Gamble whatever amount makes you comfortable and be pleasantly surprised if something good comes of it.

I do gamble ALOT. BUT last year after our Caribbean Princess cruise both my sister and my mother got offered a FREE cruise. (I did not) They spent a fraction of the time and money I spent. It was legit. It was free for an inside, just pay taxes and fees. We ended up booking two Caribe deck balconies for $10 per day per person ($50 total pp). Unfortunately we had to cancel at the last minute as my mom was hospitalized the week before.

My sister also did get this year's casino rate and I don't think she spent more than $20 - 30 per day.

As we smoke it was customary for us to go to the casino immediately after dinner for a smoke. She usually left awhile later while I played till late (or closing when they kicked me out!)

So I don't think it required a lot of play, maybe just consistent play.

Do you have to be a past "big spender" in the casino to qualify for the casino rate?

No. I am not a big spender in the casino. I play the slots and do put in my cruise card so they know I am playing. I also typically do one entry in the slot tournament.

Shelly-Do you play the slots several times during a cruise and for a good amount of time?Like I said before,I normally do not gamble but would be willing to go in a couple of times on a 7 day cruise and maybe play for 20-30 minutes.I doubt that would qualify me a casino rate.

I usually do pop in once a day and play a few dollars.
