Baltic cruise - Weather in July

Recommended Posts

If you look on the Northern European board, where this is discussed regularly - the Mods will probably move it there, you will see it can be very warm (our experience ) or on the cooler, possibly wet side, or something in between. So the common recommendation is layers.

We were just there July 26-Aug 10. Before our cruise began, people in Copenhagen said they were having an awful summer. And ships even had to skip Helsinki due to high winds on the week before. And it WAS rainy and cool for our prestay.

But within a day of boarding, the weather changed and it was sunny and comfortable the whole 10 days. We didn't need jackets/ sweaters and wore shorts many days. No one can tell you what it will be like next year. Just think layers..in case.

Weather is unpredictable. We were there last month (early July)

Amsterdam and Berlin - close to 40 Deg C

Everywhere else - Upper 20's. Had to make a decision each day as to whether to take rain gear. Weather was overcast just about everywhere. Rainy days in Tallinn and Helsinki.

However, the next week it was sunny (when we weren't there).

We are thinking of doing the above cruis next year. Anyone had experience of doing this in July and what kind of temperatures did you experience? This ishave one part of the world we have not visited. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

I've only been once, but daytime temperatures were in the range 10 to 25 degrees or so.

Our cruise was July 19-26 this year. While the rest of Europe was having a heat wave, temps were a comfortable 20 degrees C most days o the cruise. We always brought sweaters and they were on and off several times during the day depending on wind, shade, etc. One afternoon of solid rain in St. Petersburg, light drizzle a couple of other mornings.

Obviously weather is unpredictable, but I have to say I enjoyed the cooler temps for this cruise, made it so we weren't too tired at the end of a long day touring.
