azwildcat Posted April 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2016 We will be sailing on the Star Legend on 1/7/17, arriving in San Juan the day before. Can anyone recommend a hotel in Old San Juan that is not too expensive? We probably won't get to the hotel until 9:00 PM and don't want to spend a fortune for a room to sleep in for one night. L&K Posted May 9, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2016 We stayed at the Sheraton in Old San Juan. It is in a fantastic location; across the street from where the cruise ships dock. It is within walking distance of shopping and restaurants and we would definitely stay there again.
dandee2 Posted May 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2016 Good day, Whatever you do, reserve early. Not that many room in OSJ. We stayed at the Hotel Miramar on Ponce de Leon Ave. Nice little boutique hotel. Need to take taxi to pier but then you can leave luggage on the ship and stroll around the old port most of the day. Cheers, dandee2
LTCOP Posted May 10, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2016 We stayed at La Terraza de San Juan before our Star Legend cruise in February. It is lovely and the rooftop bar and pool are wonderful. Very helpful staff and lovely building with lots of history.
Redtravel Posted May 10, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2016 While not in Old San Juan, it is close. stayed at Hyatt House for 2 nights before a cruise. There is also a new Hyatt Place across the street. Used hyatt points. If you don't have a Hyatt credit card, get one. Signing up gets you 2 free nights. If on a budget, the consider CasaBlanca. A good hotel at a reasonable pruce, a nice roof terrace for evening cocktails

acruisefan Posted June 2, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 2, 2016 We have stayed at El Convento, across the street from the cathedral on several occasions and enjoyed it. It's been quite a few years, though so I would check out recent reviews.
hughdm Posted June 4, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 4, 2016 El Convento is our favorite, but I wouldn't consider it "not too expensive". Never hurts to look at prices, though. It is a charming place.
