Just off the Magic - February 11-18th sailing - any questions?

Good morning!

We just returned from our Magic sailing to the Eastern Caribbean on Saturday.

I really meant to post before now but we left all 6 kids home for this trip so I've been catching up with them, plus I have 1 who has strep and 1 with the flu - ugh!

Anyway, I hope to start a review soon but thought I'd put this out there if anyone had any questions before I get started.

Ask away!

When was the BBQ place open and how long were the lines (if long did they move quickly)?

The Pig and Anchor BBQ was open on sea days and I believe it was from around 12:00 until 2:30 or so. We went on Sunday around 1:30 and there wasn't a line at all. There was a very long line when it first opened so we decided to just wait until it died down some.

We sail on the Magic in 9 days and I am so very excited !! What were some of your favorite things on the ship ?

To be honest we really didn't do a lot this trip - we more or less just relaxed. We did enjoy the movies on the lido deck. There are some good ones for February - but you may be in the March ones so check John Heald's Facebook page and he will let you know what the movies for March are going to be. Get there early though if you want a good seat. Deck 11 port side is a great place to watch from - more comfy chairs there too.

We had a different cruise director than you will too but if he does the music trivia in the atrium some evenings be sure and go. It's a lot of fun and you hear some songs you haven't heard in ages (if you're old enough to remember them). I think there was 70's music trivia and 80's music trivia and maybe one more.

Have fun!

Is the smoke smell in/ by the casino as bad as everyone says?

Uum - it can be. We aren't smokers and when I walked through the casino there was definitely a smoke smell. It did seem to be worse around the bar area in the casino so if you are a gambler and can find a machine tucked away in a corner away from the bar area you might be ok.

We are on the Magic in a couple weeks. Did you go to any of the shows - theatre or comedians? If so, what were your impressions?

No comedians this trip - just never made it. There was a technical issue with the first show called Flick so they just sang the songs instead of doing the show but I really enjoyed those so I think the show would be great. The Country show was really good and the America Rocks show was good as well. We didn't see the 88 Keys show but did hear someone say that out of 50 something cruises that was the best show they had seen.

Hope that helps!

Did the smell go out into surrounding areas that are not in the casino? We aren't smokers either and I've heard you can smell it everywhere, even in the atrium elevator areas? Would love your input.

Thanks!

Were you on 8 day Eastern Caribbean? What was your favorite port. We're going in September also. Do you have a copy of the Fun Times? Can't wait to see your review.

No we did the 7 day Eastern. St. Thomas was my favorite port - it was gorgeous. I do have the Fun Times but no way to scan them in unfortunately.

I really didn't notice it anywhere but the casino. We used the atrium elevators all the time because we were on the Lido deck right outside the atrium elevators and I never noticed it in that area at all.

Looking forward to your review. We're going on her in September. Did you do any excursions?

We did but not through Carnival. We did all private tours - had drivers pre-booked in St. Thomas and San Juan and just rented a taxi in Amber Cove for a quick sightseeing tour.
