Jeffrey1950 Posted November 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2015 I already have a cruised booked for June...trying now to make up my mind as to do the sailing from New York to Quebec/ flying back in October or doing the New York to Halifax and Boston for five days in July. Cannot decide which one to pick I live 20 mins. from New York if I do the one in October I have to fly home if I do the one in June it is round trip to New York which would be perfect however, seems a lot of money for one full day at sea and staying overnight in Boston. Which one would you choose????
BlueRiband Posted November 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Having done both, it's my belief that the better Cunard experience is on the NY-Quebec segment rather than the 5-day short voyage out of New York. You're going to get an International passenger mix on the Quebec segment while the NY round-tripper is full of us American rednecks. And over 90% of the passengers come on solely for the five days. Others have also commented that the 5-day Independence Day voyage has much proportionally higher fares. Supply and demand at work.
seacruise9 Posted November 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Hi, After considering both of these cruises, I decided to book the New York City to Quebec cruise. I prefer the itinerary and the opportunity to visit Quebec. Chuck
Lanky Lad Posted November 20, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2015 I would plump for Quebec it's a beautiful city (no offence to Boston and Halifax).

Which one would you choose???? Hi Jeffrey. Are you sure there will be an overnight in Boston? I ask because I've taken the "4th of July Cruise" several times, and QM2 departed Boston Harbor around 1 am in the past. If it's changed this year, I'd enjoy an overnight in Boston :) BTW, I've also taken the longer Quebec cruise (when it was round-trip NY). Both are nice - just a matter of personal preference and timing as to which one is better;) -S.

Underwatr Posted November 21, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2015 More detail on the Jul 5 departure time would be informative. I think Boston to New York would take more than ~12 hours (probably 18 to 24) which suggests an early departure at the minimum and might imply an early morning departure after the July 4 revelry has quieted down. Underwatr Posted November 22, 2015 #10 Share Posted November 22, 2015 For all intents July 5 is a sea day.
Jeffrey1950 Posted November 22, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted November 22, 2015 Yes, but leaves at 1AM therefore missing time to enjoy the ocean unless of course you stay up all night.
Host Hattie Posted November 22, 2015 #12 Share Posted November 22, 2015 You will miss an evening at sea but you will still have the whole of the day of the 5th.
