It seems like every time Amsterdam is at the AS dock (where we could have a great view of docking), webcam person is not cooperative.:(

Meanwhile, over in Port Everglades two ships from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, the training vessel JS Kashima and the destroyer JS Harusame, are in port.

I'm a little behind you -- I board the Amsterdam in Seattle on September 11, should be in Juneau on September 15. I plan to be waving, too. :D

And thanks to scrapnana for posting this -- I've gotten hooked on watching the HAL ships come and go at Juneau. I've learned a lot just from clicking on different things (ship descriptions, routes, etc.). Good stuff!

They are playing - I mean drilling - with the lifeboats and tenders. They are on the radio.

Sounded to me like things were not going quite perfectly, but those learning experiences are what drills are all about. Making mistakes in the drills rather than when something happens.

They should be wrapping up soon. Volendam is nearing the Gastineau.

Yes he is but I think Copper indicated he is nearing retirement and 2018 will be his last.
