Yacht Club

I just booked the Yacht Club on the Divina. We are very excited. We decided to try something new and cancelled our trip on Celebrity. We booked under MSC's new promo and receive an OBC. It talks about the complimentary beverages in the promo for Yacht Club members but I assume it is still limited to areas within the Yacht Club, which is slightly disappointing.

From the reviews, it sounds like the service is excellent. However, it appears the unlike other lines, the gratuities do not increase for having a butler. I assume that most people tip extra at the end of the cruise for exceptional service.

I have a few questions that hopefully the Yacht Club experts can answer.

1. Does the YC restaurant mirror what is served in the main dining restaurants or are the menus separate and distinct?

2. Did you find the buffet/ spread that they had the Top Sail Lounge/pool area sufficient to eat lunch? We like the european concept of small plates so we are not looking to gorge ourselves.

3. For embarkation, is the YC drop off area easy to spot?

4. For the shows, do they have a YC section in the theater roped off? It looked like that was the case in the videos (I would feel kind of like a jerk to take advantage of if this is the case).

5. Has anyone tried Eatly? What did you think?

6. Any other hidden perks that are in the MSC materials?

1-The menus are different and they will please you. 2- try the regular buffet it is very expansive and good, 3- yc area is under a white tent, 4- no roped off area, 5 the specialty restaurant lacks atmosphere but they say the food is good but you rarely see anyone in there. Enjoy it!!!!!!!

Your mini bar is fully stocked. I carried cans of soda to other parts of the ship without a problem. Bar drinks I drank in the lounge.

We tipped the butler, concierge, maitre de and our head waiter at Le Muse.

I have a few questions that hopefully the Yacht Club experts can answer.

1. Does the YC restaurant mirror what is served in the main dining restaurants or are the menus separate and distinct?

Food at Le Muse was superior to the MDR.

2. Did you find the buffet/ spread that they had the Top Sail Lounge/pool area sufficient to eat lunch? We like the european concept of small plates so we are not looking to gorge ourselves.

We ate both breakfast and lunch in the Top Sail. After big dinners the smaller portions were welcomed.

3. For embarkation, is the YC drop off area easy to spot?

The tent as easy to spot, and embarkation was excellent.

4. For the shows, do they have a YC section in the theater roped off? It looked like that was the case in the videos (I would feel kind of like a jerk to take advantage of if this is the case).

We never asked for an escort to a show. Seating was ample so it was not required.

5. Has anyone tried Eatly? What did you think?

We did not, and the place was always a ghost town when we passed the restaurant.

6. Any other hidden perks that are in the MSC materials?

You get priority escorted disembarkation. We sailed a YC2 on the Divina and loved it. We are booked in a YC1 on the Splendida this March. We stayed in Ncl's Haven several times, but the Yacht Club is superior and has a more reasonable price. Enjoy.

1. Does the YC restaurant mirror what is served in the main dining restaurants or are the menus separate and distinct?

the menus in Le Muse are done extreme - the best - we sat with the 2 chefs from our last cruise and enjoyed 3 bottle of Caymus- wonderful, creative chefs....not like the main dining room at all - no need to try the speciality restaurants, we did as we sailed for 21 nights, so wanted a change....

2. Did you find the buffet/ spread that they had the Top Sail Lounge/pool area sufficient to eat lunch? We like the european concept of small plates so we are not looking to gorge ourselves. No, not enough for lunch, but at the One Pool - amazing, as usual - each day when we were onboard the chef made a special pasta each day - otherwise we ventured to Le Muse, without any disappointment, never did the buffet in the main section any day --

3. For embarkation, is the YC drop off area easy to spot? Very easy to spot, white tent, just have driver stop infront of white tent, usually the first stop as you appoach the ship...

4. For the shows, do they have a YC section in the theater roped off? It looked like that was the case in the videos (I would feel kind of like a jerk to take advantage of if this is the case).Only existed in old video of Yacht Club, this simply does not exist - never a problem getting a seat anytime...

5. Has anyone tried Eatly? What did you think? Fantastic, especially the Lamb Chops, got to try it - remember, so much is imported from Italy - now your chance to have the best including the proscuitto..

6. Any other hidden perks that are in the MSC materials?

Butler will escort you first night to Le Muse (wonderful) - ask the butler to escort off ship in ports (by pass so many hectic lines) - did not miss the alcohol in other areas, bought a booklet of drink coupons for the balance of bars on the ship, and we used more in the night club - did a few bottles of wine when we dined a few nights in the Pizzeria... the entire experience was the best service we encountered from all the main stream cruise lines - have booked again on a transatlantic in the Yacht Club of course...the price + the service cannot come close to what any other cruise line offers...totally AMAZING - Enjoy!!!!!

If you are looking for a specialty restaurant I would recommend the Galaxy restaurant instead. Better atmoshpere, excellent service and food and a great saxaphone player. The best night of our cruise. Bob

We sailed in March and loved it so much we booked the Sofia Loren Suite for this coming June. All the info above is correct and I would like to add we ate at Eataly one night and were so sorry we did! The restaurant was empty, the food was average at best and the service was underwhelming.

We have been in YC three times now with #4 in the Sophia Loren suite on March 28 and #5 in December so we consider ourselves pros. You will thoroughly enjoy the YC and will never want to sail any other way! The food in Le Muse is wonderful, the breakfast and lunch on the pool deck is delicious, the service, bar menu, and food in Top Sail is superb, and the entire experience is over the top magnificent! We did eat at Eataly one night and it was the best steak I have ever eaten, bar none! But the filet in Le Muse is also amazing...had it every night over the New Year's Eve cruise! I cannot recommend the YC highly enough...we are HUGE fans!

Question - what drinks (both alchoholic and non-alchoholic) are included for the Yacht Club guests? And the times that they are available?

Any drinks, except the most premium alcohols, 24/7 (slight surcharge). If you do a search for the YC drink menu on this forum, you will find them. You also do not have to order from the drink menu. If there is something you would like for them to make, just tell them and they are more than happy to oblige.

Thanks for all the responses. This is very helpful. This is the first time we have sailed with MSC. The Yacht Club sounds fabulous and we look forward to a week of relaxation. Between the Yacht Club and the fact it is a European cruise line is what sealed the deal. While we are very fond of Celebrity, we were fatigued and we think it will be interest to see a non-US based company's perspective on cruising. Plus, if the Yacht Club is what is cracked up to be, price wise this is one of the best bargains available.

My 7 year old is so excited. When we went to visit some of my wife's family in Italy last year, she became throughly Italian and is looking forward to conversing in Italian with some of the Italian staff.

One last question. I assume with the mini bar we can work with the butler to have it tailored, within reason, with the water, soda, beer etc. we would like.

ALL the staff in YC...butlers, waiters, bartenders, concierge, etc speak Italian so she will have lots of folks to converse with! Also I requested only Peroni beer and vodka and whiskey miniatures and within minutes, my butler had the mini fridge stocked to my specification and kept it that way the entire cruise.

Yes you can.

The mini bar is filled with various hard liquor, beer, soda, potato chips, nuts, chocolate peanuts,etc.......but NO WINE !

That is the only alcohol my husband drinks.

We requested it and our butler apologized but said he could NOT get any.

They do replenish the minibar bar twice a day for the other items.

So, we wound up getting glasses of wine from the lounge and bringing them to our room.

Can't begin to tell you how great the yacht club is, we sailed in the yatch club on the Divina last year and are booked again this year. So just a couple of tips.

The laundry package is a great deal $25 for 20 items.

Your butler well bring you tea/coffee and lovely little pastries in the morning at your prefered time.

When you're going off the ship for the day, tell your butler you'd like to take some water with you, and he'll give you iced water in a small cool bag.

Have afternoon tea, it's served at 4 o'clock in the top sale lounge, it's lovely.

Go to the Captain s cocktail party in the top sale lounge, the have wonderful canapés and geart cocktail.

Also if you need anything when you're in your room, (tea, coffee, glass of wine or room service) call reception and they'll have it delivered in no time.

If you can think of anything else you'd like answered, and hopefully I can help.

$25. for 20 items but unlike other cruiselines, you do not have to do all 20 at one time.

I was unsure how to fill out the form so I called customer service to ask how to keep track.

They replied.....You are in the Yacht Club, your butler will count & keep track of your clothes for you......yuck....there is nothing your butler will not do !

The first time we in the lounge, we were not sure if we could take drinks out with us.

When we were ready to go, we just picked up our glasses of wine and headed for the door.

Wait ! we heard someone say. Thinking we had to leave our drinks , we just stopped at the door. Then the gentleman said...Please do not take those drinks....we will have your butler come & carry them back to your room for you.

We convinced him we were able to handle them ourselves.

There was one night at the YC restaurant were steak was the specialty. It was not only the best steak I ever had but it was half the size of the plate. I thought they brought me an oversized cut. Looking around I could see that everyone got a steak that size.

Halfway through the meal I heard the lady at the table behind me comment to the waiter that the steak was delicious but way to big to finish, would it be possible for her to have a 'doggie bag' and take it back to her room. Oh, No! the waiter replied.....we will have your butler bring the leftovers to your room....

Our butler Putra delivered my 1/2 espresso, 1/2 coffee plus an ice cold glass of milk for the baby at precisely 7:30 every morning of our December cruise. A couple of mornings we were still sleeping so I quietly opened the door and he tiptoed in with the beverages and set them up on the coffee table then quietly slipped out, never waking the baby. He was worth his weight in gold...have absolutely loved all three butlers we have have had in our three cruises in the YC.

Putra is AWESOME! We had him for our butler for our "girl's cruise" in September.

You will love the YC but be prepared to be spoiled for anything else once you've experienced it! Enjoy your cruise and if you happen to have Putra as your butler or see Adi in the Top Sail Bar, tell them "Miss Michelle" and "Miss Kimberly" say hi!

I'm sure you gonna love the Yacht, it's a great cruising experience and a very good product at sea.

We have sailed many times in the YC and most recent a B2B on the MSC Divina in the Caribbean. A great cruise :)

Please have a look in my thread under with plenty of photos from the Yacht Club onboard the sistership of MSC Divina, the MSC Preziosa. Enjoy :)

We booked YC on the Davina for the April Bermuda run. I am really excited and after hearing about the fantastic service in the YC I am almost more excited about the ship then Bermuda! Thanks for all the great input, I will know how to get the most out of being in a YC cabin. Also I would assume you can get drinks from Top Sail or even your room and bring them to other parts of the ship. Although if I'm in the Jazz Club I will a drink from there and not run back and forth. I heard a couple of different options - some bought drink tickets to use outside of the YC. I also saw where someone wrote how a few YC sailors had their butler bring them drinks while in different areas of the ship.... to me that's a bit much.
