  1. Stop and think past your own selfish wants. There are hundreds of countries in this world, and cruisers come from most of them. Each country has their own specific requirements for travel to other countries. And those requirements can, and do, change on a dime, with little or no warning. These requirements come from the federal governments of individual countries, and the cruise lines have absolutely no say in them. Nor are the cruise lines a sufficiently important entity to hold sway over entire governments. The entire issue is too large and complex for "one or 2 employees" to track this volume of information. Millions of people cruise each year. Thoroughly read the websites of any cruise line, and their T&Cs, and you will find language to the effect that it is up to the cruiser to determine and obtain all of the necessary travel documents. That requirement is not hidden. And should be self evident, although expecting a degree of personal responsibility may be asking too much from some people. However that information is readily available for most cruisers by going to the website specific to their passport ( for example travel.state.gov if you hold a US passport).
  2. Besides the idea of just drinking in moderation and not getting stupid drunk in the first place, try drinking an 8 oz glass of water after any alcoholic drink. And if you do wake up with a hangover, eat a big, high fat breakfast along with a large quantity of non alcoholic fluids.
  3. Did you have a question, or did you just want to vent? In future, if traveling to somewhere new, it's an excellent idea took up the historical weather averages for those places well in advance. Google abounds with such websites. Then, a week or so before beginning the trip, check the forecast to refine your expectations.
  4. Final payment. Just about says it all. You could try for an upgrade if a higher level suite now falls within the amount you paid. (And one is still available)
  5. Who knows? Totally depends on your current itinerary, the projected path of the hurricane, and what islands outside said path would be reachable (with open berths) in the time available. Maybe none at all- a cruise to no where.
  6. I am very impressed. And moreso that you remember not just that you were there, but that you remember what was going on while you were there! My memory of the Led Zepplin concert in '71 is a (self inflicted) total blur.
  7. Unfortunately, paying the extra for a suite does not guarantee a better class of clientele. A$$●◇es abound everywhere.
  8. If it wasn't possible, AC wouldn't be allowed to post that connection. YUL's US CUSTOMS preclearence has dedicated lines for Global Entry and NEXUS holders, with kiosks, so in theory, its doable as long as the first flight is on time. But no dawdling allowed!
  9. Which ship? Are you in a suite or Aqua class? If you are on an Edge class ship or either of those 2 cabin classes, there is no traditional dining. There is only Select, or any time dining. Just show up when you are ready to dine. If you are on an M or S class ship, just go to the MDR Maitre d' when you embark and ask to be changed to Anytime dining.
  10. So the OP waited a year after her cruise to join CC for the purpose of making a grand exit announcement from X. Well almighty then. We are all properly devastated at the loss.
  11. Interesting that only one person has mentioned sun screen. It's always in my day bag. I add mosquito repellant if the excursion is likely to head into a bug prone area. I always carry water. Plus the stuff mentioned up thread.
  12. Somewhere on your cruise line website will be a list of forbidden items that you cant bring on board. Mostly items that could be a hazard in one form or another. Each cruiseline has a policy about what alcohol, soft drinks, and water that can be brought on. Anything confiscated at embarkation will be returned at disembarkation. Regarding foodstuffs- be sure you are aware of any Customs restrictions where you disembark.
  13. A 5 day cruise, irrespective of school holidays, is going to have more kids on board than one of a week or longer. But your cruise shouldn't be impacted by spring break.
  14. I said UP TO a couple of hours away. And depending on mode of travel (bus, car, train). Livorno to Florence vs La Spezia to Florence. Trieste or Ravenna to Venice. Even Civit. to Rome is going to be an hour . At least the Naples dock is actually in Naples. Those who have cruised outside of the US and Caribbean are aware of how may ports are distant from the main sites of interest. But this is often news to those less well traveled than yourself
  15. Here you go: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/464-italy-ports/ You don't mention which ports in Italy, but be aware that the port the ship docks at is often (usually) up to a couple of hours away from the actual place most cruisers want to see.
  16. There is no such thing as an all in one drinks package (in case anyone is looking). There is an All Included fare option for eligible cabin categories which includes the Classic Beverage pkg and Basic wifi. Alternatively you can choose a Sail only fare and purchase the beverage package and wifi package separately. You need to do your own math with the current pricing for your sailing to see which would be to your advantage. Of course, drinks with a package arent free- you have paid for them with the package. Free drinks - cheap sparkling wine at the "art" auctions? Or limited happy hour drinks once you reach Elite status. Or drinks in the Retreat Lounge if you have paid for a suite.
  17. Not with any degree of accuracy. But you can check for available cabins in each category a week or so before sailing.
  18. Your passport is a legal document and can be rejected by any Immigration Control officer if ANYTHING appears "off". Don't screw it up by adding souvenir stamps to it.
  19. Almost $6K for a bev pkg? I don't care how long your cruise is; that's too much.
  20. And, for all that you hold dear, NEVER mention Star Wars in a Star Trek conversation. ☄️
  21. However, the OP didn't state what his partner's wishes are. I would hope that he has already had this discussion with her, or dining may not be the only thing he does alone.
  22. The Ports of Call forum for the Med is a good source of information; at least as a starting point. If DIY touring is new to you, I'd suggest getting the Rick Steves Guide to Mediterranean Cruising. You're welcome.
  23. Gosh, did you know that every post has a date? And that NO ONE is required to read any post that they consider outdated? Just scroll until you find a post with a date you deem acceptable. You honestly think the entire website needs to be revamped because you don't want to read old posts? How about not using a chainsaw to trim a handrail? You could suggest to the site administrators or webmasters that they consider adding an optional search filter to limit threads less than a year or 2 old. Oops. I made a mistake, for which I apologize. Under 'more search options', after first entering the search terms there already exists an option to limit the latest date for previous entries. I wonder how many people aren't careful with precisely wording their search, and then neglect to use any of the advanced features.
  24. I don't think I can remember a cruise where we weren't delayed at least once waiting for a late excursion.
