  1. Not sure why anyone would fly all the way across country for that particular Caribbean cruise. If you want a 7 day cruise, at least the Mexican one wouldn't involve long flights to get there and back. I don't think that either cruise would affect your wife's ability to conceive.
  2. Yes, they will sell cabins to child free passengers. There actually are grown ups who are fans of all things Disney. And there are adults only areas of the ship in the evening. But you have to accept the presence of other people's rug rats for most of the day. Schedule a dental check up on your return home- the overwhelming level of sugary sweetness in all the character and staff interactions is something else. We did one Disney cruise as a couple (after a WDW vacation). It was fine, but it was one and done for us.
  3. I'm not particular as to age, but much prefer ships with fewer than 3,000 pax. Refuse to sail on the mega ships. If I wanted an amusement park I'd go to Disney World.
  4. Well yes. There are routine scheduled dry docks. And then there are unscheduled ones for unanticipated problems that may crop up. By definition you can't predict those.
  5. Well, weather happens every day. Hurricanes happen, but cruise ships don't sail through them. They sail around them. They don't sail to a port where a hurricane is forecast while they are there. They go to another port, or you get an extra sea day. The ABCs are so far south, they usually avoid most Hurricanes. You can look up their individual average monthly weather online.
  6. Except they are too big to stop in Bora Bora. I don't think many of the existing west coast cruise lines have ships small enough for that port. And Celebrity has shown no interest in any long cruises, any more, other than some repositioning cruises.
  7. You can easily, and much more cheaply visit the Louvre on your own. You could take the Metro (€2.15 pp) to the Museum. Or a bus. Or a taxi. The Louvre requires an advance booked timed entry reservation except in the off season. Do it online before you leave home. Find details (price, audio guides, guided tours, etc) on their website https://www.louvre.fr/en/visit/hours-admission?utm_source=magpietravelttd#ticket-prices
  8. Of course the Made in China kitch is world wide. If you want to know what local handmade items are for sale on any given Caribbean Island, go to their tourism website to research the possibilities.
  9. Will a sporting event affect global currency exchange rates? Highly unlikely. Billions, if not trillions, are moved daily. The amount exchanged specifically for the Olympics is miniscule in comparison. Factors that do move the rates are things like national interest rates, inflationary changes (in either direction), economic growth, political stability, trade agreements - the big stuff. Predicting currency rates is like predicting the stock market. Way above the head of most people. For the small amount of cash needed for a few weeks in Europe, it's really not worth worrying about. Getting Euros now from a US financial institution could very well cost more than getting cash from an ATM when you arrive in Europe.
  10. Should probably be asking this on the Princess forum. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/119-princess-cruises/ In the future, it helps a lot if you fill out the title section with the subject of your thread
  11. The East Coast Departures board will likely have answers: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/317-east-coast-departures/
  12. Absolutely nothing wrong with Celebrity (although by personal preference we will never sail in an E Class Infinite verandah). However we have no particular brand loyalty; we sail primarily for interesting itineraries. So if another line offers a sailing that appeals to you, then investigate the possibility. You will never know if another line or ship is a good fit for you unless you try it.
  13. Probably the value long term lot at the airport. Then take the Canada line train from the station beside the lot into the city. Advance parking reservations can often get a discount.
  14. Taking the OPs claim at face value, I don't see the big deal. If it wasn't because the order was above the package limit, and was occurring with multiple users, perhaps there was a tech issue with the card readers at those bars. In any event it would seem that it's all moot, since things appear to have reverted to normal now. Tempest in a teapot anyone?
  15. If they still have the Grand Marnier soufflé for dessert - it's wonderful.
  16. If Pinnacle equates to Elite on Celebrity, then why would you think it would equate to Zenith? In any event, it's a nice gesture and the details are none of my business.
  17. Just repeating this for emphasis. It's voluntary, and has been for a year and a half.
  18. Fine. Pay as you go. Not beverage package prices, which is what you mentioned in your original post. Since I'm not a mind reader, let me just state what I know about pay as you go beverages. You order a beverage. You are charged the price of the beverage plus gratuity (bar menus will list the price IN USD) and it goes on your onboard account IN USD. At the end of your cruise, your credit card is charged the amount outstanding on your account IN USD. This will appear as an amount owing on your Canadian credit card in an amount in CDN$. The credit card company, not the cruise line, will do the conversion based on that day's bank exchange rate. Or if you are using a USD account, then it will appear as USD
  19. The cruiselines dont all use dynamic currency conversion like the banks and credit card companies do. Some will use one conversion rate for a time, before changing. Sometimes this will favor the USD, sometimes it will favor the CDN. When I checked Google's current conversion rate, I got the same results as Broberts. So do your due diligence and base your decision on the package based on the current bank rate.
  20. Here's the link to the HAL forum: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/103-holland-america-line/ ETA I just watched a YouTube video of a Volendam vista suite that showed just a (large) shower. Perhaps the tub has been taken out?
  21. Back to the original question, my answer is No. There are alternatives if you prefer an adults only ship. Celebrity is marketing to a younger clientele, with an eye to the future. That younger demographic comes with children, so I can't see why they would suddenly convert any ships to adults only.
  22. I don't think GeezerCouple meant interior cabins. I think they were referring to a connecting door on the interior of the cabins. The deck plans will have a symbol that will indicate if 2 side by side cabins have a connecting door.
  23. Before you get too excited about using CFAR insurance to score a cheap cabin, look at the cost of the insurance. Do you have a person in mind who is agreeable to you using their name and personal information for this venture?
  24. I may buy a single Christmas ornament to remember a place we visited (for myself). I don't need the calories, or the dust collectors that other things bring. As for gifts for family - nothing, unless they ask for something specific.
