  1. Does anyone have any idea why the NCL Cruises are so expensive in Australia and New Zealand? I have a trip in a couple months out of New York and I am looking at another one going from Sydney to Auckland. The cost per night in Australia is more than double the New York trip. I like NCL, but I am looking to go with Princess going at the same time, a day longer trip and it costs 68% of the NCL price.
  2. Is a PCC useful in tracking price changes if you book far out? Or is that on me to do most of the tracking and they will just help with the changes? And if the price goes down do they lose commision or points and is this a disincentive for them?
  3. I have always booked my trips through the website, and if changes were needed I would call up and talk with whoever answered the line and make whatever changes I needed and move on. Recently I was contacted by an NCL Personal Cruise Consultant (PCC) - after mock-book a trip to see what the final price would be - and he offered me his services. Can those of you that have used PCC's explain to me what the benefits would be of using someone like him. I know if I use a Travel Agent they can sometime offer benefits like OBC or other things. What can he do for me? Thanks
  4. It took me a while to find the link to other trips on the same ship, but I did it. Thanks to the lead from Biker19. For anyone interested, the live Coral Theater shows appear to typically be at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm and last 45 minutes. Occasionally there's a movie shown in the Coral Theater, and on that night the start time was 7:15. The movies in the Cinema also start at 7:00 pm and the next show is dependant on the length of the movie. But they show the same movie a second time that night right after the first showing.
  5. The app is no help at all. All it says is: "Doors open 45 minutes prior to show time. Arrive 15 minutes early." That isn't helping me.
  6. I will be taking my first Royal Caribbean cruise in July. I will be on the Jewel of the Seas traveling in Northern Europe. Could some of you experienced Royal travelers please tell me what the show times typically are in the Coral Theater each day. And does the Cinema have a typical schedule? Thank you so much.
  7. Since everyone is on CruiseCritic to share information and to try to help each other; and as noted over and over again above the number of horror stories about how NCL has been very consistent about NOT supporting customers with any problems with air travel purchased Trough NCL. I think it would be a service to fellow passengers to post, and post, and post on every platform available that travelers should avoid using NCL for Air Travel (even if it's offered for free in my opinion). Provide examples. Post on social media, review sites, and anywhere else. Let's protect people. No more horror stoies.
  8. Would anyone know what time one could begin dropping off luggage at the Amsterdam terminal?
  9. Is it acceptable to choose a late check in time, arrive early at the port and drop off my luggage and then leave the terminal to go and explore the departure city? I am just wondering if there are any security issues of processing luggage from a person who may not check in until 5-6 hours later. Thanks
  10. If I were to enhance the Sapphire level, I would add one more complimentary specialty restaurant meal. Do that and I'm happy.
  11. Chair hogs have to also be reading this...can you explain you thinking?
  12. What the chair sign says is: “Hold that thought: No reserving deck chairs. Unattended items will be held at the towel stand.” From what Royal Caribbean cruisers are saying, people have had enough are the cruise line has heard the complaints. Within the last month the staff have been ruthless, stripping rows of towels and junk off chairs that were unoccupied for a period of time. I imagine they have a length of time that is the limit. People are reporting that it has been across many ships.
  13. I am trying Royal Caribbean for my next cruise, because of the itinerary. They have just started this strategy for addressing the chair hog issue, and apparently staff have been told to enforce it fleet-wide on a daily basis, and they are doing it.
  14. Can we all change from Anytime Dining to the Early Seating? and the be grouped?
  15. I am traveling with a number of family members, there will be five cabins, 11 people. I have a few question about dinner seatings: We have all started our reservations with "Anytime Dining," but now I think choosing a time might be better after reading more about the dining experiences of others. Can we do that after our reservations are already made? How do we link our dinner reservation time together as a group? What happens if one (or more) nights someone goes to a specialty restaurant or the buffet? Does that mess up the reservation? Thanks
  16. Thank you all for the information, this is useful
  17. I will be heading out on my first Royal Caribbean trip in July with a number of family members. We have typically sailed on Norwegian where "Formal Nights" are a very relaxed and modestly bought into concept. What is the general practice on this line? This will be a 12-night trip. Thanks
  18. Norwegian went to the super large, and now next order of ships for them is a step down. Not small but smaller than the last two classes they came out with. The newer orders they are coming out with are around 3,200 passengers. They found that people don't really like the mega-sized 4-5,000 passenger and up. And as someone has said, size does limit the port options.
  19. We're Sapphire, and dinner with the officers is not appealing to us. I'd rather they gave us another free premium restaurant meal above the Platinum offering, and I would imagine the officers would rather that as well.
  20. I's sure they are. When I was on during the World Series I could find no games, no scores, nothing about the World Series. However, there were meaningly soccor games on all the time.
  21. It's not a carton, but for other meals, I fill a glass with milk and then go tothe ice cream area and put chocolate syrup in the milk, stir it up and bingo.
  22. If I am staying at the Holiday Inn Southampton, will I be: 1) permitting to walk to the NCL terminal for the NCL Star (which I believe is typically Berth 102), and 2) will it be a reasonable walk? Thank you.
