  1. Oh YEAH--also added drink package & wifi to solo trip in July... But nothing much on our Ascent booking for Jan 2025
  2. THANKS for putting this out there. I had just booked our last 2 excursions--this saved us $70!
  3. I second all of this (tho I cannot compare Retreat to any other class since only tried it once!) I also love the upscale design of the ship. (tho I HATE far too many of the seating choices throughout the ship--did no one actually SIT on every chair before choosing them??!!) I do agree they could put some seating around the restaurants...
  4. People love to complain. I take it with a grain of salt (although when the MAJORITY say something, pay attention. I should have before sailing MSC...it's true, TOO many rude passengers!) Funny--I've seen LOTS of complaints about NCL Prima (one of 2 newest ships)...we are going to try them in Jan! We started sailing Celebrity 10 years ago & felt it was a SMALL step above other lines. Having sailed 20 times in the last 2 years, 5 of those Celebrity & 4 NCL, Celebrity remains our fav line--ESPECIALLY Eclass ships. THAT BEING SAID we find mainstream lines to be more alike than different--each ship (not just line) having things we like over others (ie Waterfront on NCL Breakaway class should be on ALL ships), and things that aren't as good. (production shows on Carnival, Princess & Celebrity older ships) Crew--in nearly 40 cruises in 20 years we have never had anything but wonderful crew. (ok, there may have been a handful of "ok" crew, but they are few) We did have 1 NCL cruise where they were clearly understaffed & we were worried it was a cost cutting measure...but did not experience it on our next NCL cruise. Food--have never gone hungry. Pretty much everything is good, quite a bit very good. Even some excellent. Entertainment--we have never been bored (well, one sailing on RCCL...bad CD). We do prefer the production shows on NCL & RCCL as well as Celebrity Eclass ships. But all have trivia, gameshows, pool games, Bingo/Deal or No Deal, musicians all over. I have not seen any significant changes that have changed my cruising experience. (other than NCL beginning to drop their Broadway shows...but if they can put out in house shows like Syd Norman's, I have hope) If you loved Celebrity, give them a try again. I especially recommend giving Eclass a try. But I am a fan of NCL Breakaway class as well--but only if there is a Syds!
  5. You have to send the one that shows how many
  6. I figured...worth an ask! Yep I bring those.
  7. Our sailing now has 2 days in Noumea so seeking a beach. I have found a website that lists several--does anyone have any tips? https://www.boraboraislandguide.com/beaches-in-noumea.html Preferably beach chairs to rent as opposed to lying on the sand, but not a deal breaker. Thanks!
  8. We just got off 12 Europe cruise last week. We are doing 16 day TA & 12 day UK cruise in April. I anticipate seeing that same menu on our 12 day on the 16 day...can we expect 16 days of different choices before seeing a repeat of 12 days of that on the 2nd leg?
  9. I'm GUESSING I can't but figured I'll ask... I have a lightweight coffee maker I take to Vegas...was wondering if they will let me bring that onboard or will it be confiscated? Since I won't have the drink package this time, I'm looking for ways to get some decent coffee...
  10. Uh...Mumford & Sons? I sure don't remember Sanford & Sons ever doing a concert🤣
  11. OK I love Cruise Plum--HOW do I get graphs like this??!!
  12. This is odd saying they would charge you...I have regularly asked for tech assistance & NEVER been charged any thing....
  13. I sent the screenshot with our account info--shows account number w/ our names. Then the screenshot showing 100 shares has the account number on it as well. Only way I could see to do it--it worked!
  14. @Norwaylady I recommend the Peaches & Bourbon in Luminae. Neither DH nor I are bourbon drinkers. AT ALL. YET--we both loved it! At least get one to share. Hope the hiccups continue to diminish...
  15. I have just booked this cruise solo--golf league starts in May so DH prefers to avoid cruising then (as well as football season...I have to work around home Husker games!!) I already pushed things a bit--our TA/UK cruise returns May 3, which means he MIGHT miss the 1st day of some leagues. We are both young (60&57) retired school librarians. Since I retired last year, have been cruising A LOT. Cruised monthly from July 22-May 23: a retirement celebration! Now with all this open time in our schedule, it is pretty tough not to book when a good deal comes up. 36 cruises under my belt in 20 years...but only one on Carnival! We took the Miracle 14 days RT to Hawaii--and LOVED it! Many said we would hate it after sailing nearly every other mainstream line. The bartenders said the key to a Carnival cruise is take the longer ones--so keeping with that on this one. There is a CHANCE one of our YA kiddos could join me...but with job situations at their age, things are up in the air until much closer. See ya'll there!
  16. I have sailed solo on Princess, NCL & MSC. NCL by far did the best job--Solo/single meet daily. Had little "get to know each other" games & had group tables reserved for those who wanted to join (you had to sign up). Princess-no one even showed for our solo meeting; so I can't really evaluate! MSC--they did have a gathering. But I found far too many passengers to be rude on MSC I'm a bit jaded in my judgement. All this being said, I'm a very social person so on all cruises met others. (MSC I only did due to a Meet & Greet from a Roll Call here; honestly, I wouldn't have met many had I not. Not as friendly of passengers (overall) as other lines) I had dinner with others (sometimes); chatted people up at bars; joined teams for trivia. And I always manage to befriend my fav bartenders.😉
  17. I just booked Venezia solo with a casino deal in May. I read a long review of someone currently on the Venezia. So far they have just really shown the duet that plays in the piazza. When we sailed the Miracle for the 1st time in January, there were several musicians each evening--a Latin trio, a duet that did popular songs, a duet with a violin that also did popular songs (liked them better than I thought I would) & a fantastic band. Looks like about 6 different options plus piano player & DJ throughout the day. They do have a piano guy--not sure if he is like Howl at the Moon or more like the guy on Princess (more just playing well known tunes) There is trivia about every hour all day--various topics. There is a production show each night (I found them "meh" like Princess) There are 2-3 comedy shows EVERY night. Often different comedians. Game shows, Deal or No Deal, Bingo. Typical pool/lounge games. People told us we wouldn't like Carnival after having sailed numerous cruises on most other lines. We loved it--bartenders told us the key to Carnival is longer cruises.
  18. Have had this happen. I think sometimes when they look at pics on their side, they THINK they have the right person, but not always. So you may have been charged for someone else's drink. OR did you order a drink over the $15 maximum? (you should have signed if you did) If not, go to Guest Services & they will correct it.
  19. Think Class B specialty dining. It can vary by ship (for instance we were just on the Island and basically there was NO option; I believe they offered an option for this at one of the specialty dining spots for lunch a couple days)
  20. If you do, you will get an email to use the Stockperks app.
  21. Actually $10/day CHEAPER. Just got a "free" cruise offer on Carnival...by the time I added drinks, tips & wifi, both NCL & Princess give that "free" cruise a comparable offer. When I'm solo, I don't add the drink package. But w/ DH, I've done the math--it's worth it!
