  1. I took this course of action and checked my balance every day after final payment to ensure it was showing a zero balance. We boarded with a zero balance. Part way through my cruise I went into my online account to check excursion purchase prices and happened to notice that it showed an amount owing of £1574!! Guest services contacted head office and were told it was a mistake as all my discounts had dropped off and just to ignore it as they couldn’t zero it out. When we returned home our account was still showing the amount owing. I was concerned that if this remained it may affect our ability to book future cruises as it would look like we hadn’t paid all our bill. I emailed the executive office, first email was ignored, so emailed again. Got a call from them confirming it was a mistake but that it had now been removed and they issued a zero invoice. Not impressed. We are taking a break from Celebrity for a while to see if things improve as there are so many experiments going on at present - menu switching, extra charges, computer glitches, vaping experiments and infinite verandas etc. This worry about charging was the final straw for us, so we are taking a break and have booked another line for our next cruise.
  2. My favourite film! Yes you’re right that’s where it came from.
  3. Thanks for that it’s reassuring. How do the shows in the theatre compare? I get the impression that Cunard is more low key.
  4. We have previously sailed with Celebrity, but are thinking of trying Cunard from Southampton. We note one of the benefits you may choose with Cunard is parking. What is involved with this? Is it dockside or away from the port? If not using their parking is there a paid for option? Would welcome any advice on the positives and negatives of Cunard over Celebrity. Many thanks.
  5. We were half way through a cruise when £1547 appeared on our online account! We contacted guest services who checked with head office. They confirmed it was an error, and that the promotions had dropped out. Said they could not remove it and just ignore it! I worried the rest of the cruise as to whether the charge would appear on our card, but we have been home a few days now and so far only correct charges have been made to the card.
  6. We are from the UK. We tip the porters at Southampton. we are going to Norway and will only take cards. A recent post informed us that on one excursion the charge was higher if you paid cash rather than card.
  7. You will get charged extra for gratuities in a higher grade cabin.
  8. We did this once last year on Silhouette. However I understand from previous posts that there is no longer an option to order from MDR menu through room service. If true it’s a shame. Our favourite Sailaway was on our balcony with MDR food and would have liked to do it again.
  9. Change your app to the current cruise and you will be able to see all the shows etc that are on now.
  10. You can take it onboard but Celebrity will take it off you and keep it safe until you disembark.
  11. Sadly it only seems to be on new packages. There’s no reduction on the cost of upgrading from classic to premium. There is also a sale on speciality dining packages - we’ve saved £75 by cancelling and rebooking.
  12. A couple of months ago there were a lot of genuine concern about some sweeping changes that had been made that were not communicated by X. Following a lot of communications either directly or on these boards between guests and X, many of these changes have been reversed. X listened, so perhaps there was some value to the ‘griping’. Glad that things have settled down now.
  13. What an absolute waste of time. Some of the past destination videos were actually very interesting. I particularly enjoyed the Alaska one. This however is a load of self indulgent rubbish. I learned nothing new. Interesting that they did not make a big thing of the IV. There is nothing in the world that would get me into an IV. As aft balconies book up so quickly and suites are becoming so expensive, I think the likelihood of me going on Edge class is zero. Sadly it looks like I shall be changing to another cruise line from next year. This webinar has done nothing to persuade me otherwise.
  14. If you haven’t put in your card details then the bid won’t have been accepted. If it has gone through then there will be a cancel/modify button.
  15. We too have seen the celebrity suite advertised on the move up page with premium drinks and hot tub on balcony. I assumed this must be a mistake. It would be a shame to bid a higher amount thinking that is what you are bidding for and then find out that the info is inaccurate.
  16. On our last cruise - 14 days, there was only one speaker. Matt Munro’s daughter. We didn’t go, but would like to have more speakers.
  17. We were advised we were unsuccessful 48 hours before sailing.
  18. This was posted elsewhere from someone on Sky this week.
  19. Some years ago we were on a celebrity excursion in Athens. We stopped at a park under the acropolis for a period of time. One person (lone traveller) did not return at the appropriate time. Our guide made a thorough search of the area to no avail. Despite waiting some time she did not return. Our guide put an alert out to all the other tour operators along with a description. We continued on the tour. The lady was eventually located by another group and rejoined us later at the Plaka before returning to the ship. I was always wary of making sure I returned as required, but made doubly sure after this.
  20. We did Taste of Taj on Silhouette last summer. We enjoyed it and felt it was a fairly authentic Indian experience. It was really good as a one off experience but may not do it again on our next cruise.
  21. Our bid last year showed pending right up until 48 hours before sailing - when it was rejected.
  22. Prices do change. If you see something you like reserve it then. If prices go down you can always cancel and rebook. On our last cruise there was a big price hike close to sailing so we were glad we booked early. Independent non celebrity excursions are much cheaper but on the rare occasion you are late back the ship will not wait unless you are on a trip bought through them.
  23. Don’t panic if it doesn’t happen immediately. It took 2 weeks for the refund to hit our card when we cancelled.
