  1. The ease of getting in and out of the zodiac is very dependent on sea conditions - it can be tricky. I saw people fall over, more than once. In all cases, you make a "sailor's grip" (they will demonstrate this) with both arms and hands, so hands must be free. They will take your poles and give them to you once seated. The crew is great - just let them know your situation, and they will do everything they can to help. If they feel it is too rough to make a safe entry, they may not allow it, but they really do want you to experience Antarctica and will do their best.
  2. I'm very much a girlie girl - and I drink Jameson on the rocks. If that is not girlie enough for ya - I love a Bellini, made with Prosecco, of course.
  3. This has been a great thread. We are suppose to leave here for Antarctica in 2 1/2 weeks, but with all these great pictures, I guess now I can just stay home.
  4. I really enjoy Regent and will continue to do so. But, if I was booked on a cruise that changed so drastically, I would be very disappointed too. I know I know - terms of contract, blah, blah, blah. But the poster has every reason to be upset. So far, none of my booked cruises have been changed and I feel fortunate. Port intensive is a great idea - if it is sold as a port intensive cruise. This one was not.
  5. My husband did the Polar Plunge last year. It took about 3 days to locate his testicles.
  6. Oh - I remember The Piano dessert last year at the New Year's Dinner. It was beautiful (hated to break it) and so delicious.
  7. You said it! I may be old, but I'm not dead.....................yet.
  8. I understand and was just being silly. If people wear socks with sandals, I really don't mind at all. I'll just snicker and point............................not really, not really, just joking!
  9. Black shoes and white socks -------------my eyes, my eyes!!! Unless of course one is in Bermuda shorts or wearing a kilt. I love a man in a kilt and don't care what they have on their feet.
  10. EWWWWW! (Unless you get regular pedicures.) But please, never wear socks with sandals. Not a good look.
  11. As an old person, I just don't want to see thick, yellowed toe nails, arm pits or hairy backs in the dining room. And I certainly don't want to see the same with men.
  12. Yes, and I imagine there would have been plenty of gentlemen who would have agreed.
  13. Are all upper-class buffoons, or just those that play Polo?
  14. I think that just about says it all, but then, that is my judgment.
  15. I hear ya!! (Pun intended.) I have "trained" myself to wear earplugs at night. It does take a little while to get comfortable with them. Now, I don't leave home without them.
  16. Hahaha. It's funny how some are so quick to judge others to be judgmental.
  17. When you book, you can specifically state not to be upgraded. I am very picky about where my suite is and don't want any surprises.
  18. Going through the Bab al-Mindab strait will certainly be interesting. Hey, maybe everybody will get a flak helmet with a Silversea logo on it.
  19. Oh - okay. I just looked at the ones you had posted here.
  20. I'm salivating and there weren't any pictures of food.
  21. If you look on line there are tours that go up into the Andes (to the north-north-east) of Santiago. Most even pick-up at your hotel. The big draw for that area is the Los Caracoles - the snail road.
  22. I will never go to the spa again on Seabourn. The push to buy products after my massage was so intense that the relaxation received was completely gone by the time the ordeal was over. I wish they wouldn't do that, but if they make a commission then I can see why.
  23. I was addressing that comment to a particular poster whose posts have since been deleted. You can venture a guess as to why. I have been truly blessed with so much that yes, I am charitable. And yet, it is probably still too little.
  24. I saw this morning on the news Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd have suspended Red Sea shipping for the time being.
