  1. That’s workable if the ship only needs to travel a short distance to and from dry dock. But it’s 2 weeks each way between Sydney/Brisbane and Singapore plus 2 weeks in dry dock - 6 weeks. Too much to take out of the local season I would have thought. For Ovation, perhaps the last local cruise and the TP get canned if she is to continue in Alaska afterwards. I think we’ll see these ships replaced in that timeframe to generate interest but I wouldn’t have thought that would happen mid season.
  2. Interesting question. Ovation seems to be due around April 2024 but the Sydney Honolulu TP is already on sale. Can’t see when they can slot dry dock in without cancelling cruises. Quantum due around Nov 2024. These dry docks present an opportunity to change up the Aussie & Alaska deployments. Odyssey replaces Ovation? Ovation replaces Quantum?
  3. Yes, good call. Navigator is due for drydock early 2024. Not many stops between LA and Singapore, apart from Hawaii. 60 days - enough time for revenue cruises there and back? Nope!
  4. Thanks for sharing the link. No specific ship identified but they do apparently want the option to return. I cant see the Chinese central govt approving in the near term but we’ll see.
  5. I can’t see Royal home porting Spectrum in HK unless Singapore gets a replacement ship (Wonder?).
  6. I thought perhaps Hawaii… Navigator has appeared in Honolulu’s port calendar on Feb 21, 2024. I didn’t spot it in any other Hawaiian ports.
  7. Not sure if this has been reported already…. Spectrum cruises through to March 2024 from Singapore and one from Tokyo are up on Royal’s website.
  8. Why? They can home port Wonder in Singapore for the southern winter. I think this is much more likely than China given the geopolitical situation. Also, it’s a much shorter repositioning between Brisbane and Singapore, compared to China.
  9. Thanks for sharing; sounds promising. I assume it will be contingent on Lelepa. Given the shortage of suitable ports I can see them marketing it as a destination in its own right. I’ll be on board no matter where it’s going!
  10. Hadn’t seen the Oasis certification. It’s not like 5,000 people swamps Hobart is it? The port authority will always want more revenue of course. Other stakeholders appear to have different priorities.
  11. Chilli, the problems are in the far north west of Mexico, not throughout.
  12. Yeah, get into the tapas and Rioja in Spain. 😉👍
  13. Looking at the prices Princess is getting for their world cruises, I’d say it’s a goer. I would personally prefer a ship based in Brisbane.
  14. They’re doing it to give you something to talk about Chilli! I think Radiance class (Brilliance or another) will be the year round ship, Sydney in the Summer and Brisbane in the Winter. Easier to fill than a larger ship and suits the South Pacific ports better as well.
  15. Gavin tells me their intention is to operate year round once Lelepa is up and running. Of course there are no guarantees.
  16. Yes, that’s something Royal would consider. Another thought… their business case for building Lelepa depends on year round revenue.
  17. Wa ate dinner at Bayou on Coral in June. Food and service were both good. I was a bit disappointed that there is little in the way of Cajun or Creole dishes. I lived in New Orleans for a while and love the food (and the city and people too). But it’s well worth a try.
  18. Quite possible. Perhaps the speed “limits” apply differently to Brilliance and Enchantment due to the different fuels.
  19. Sydney got the better end of this swap. I couldn’t work out why they had a ship with so few balconies in Alaska. Never made sense.
  20. Very disappointing for you. We visited all those places independently. It is easy with a rental car. Just have to book accommodation. Less than half the cost of Princess’ as well.
  21. Perhaps US flagged and US working conditions for crew.
  22. Maybe Hawaii has approached the US Govt for an exemption. Is the PVSA exemption for Alaska open-ended or only for a fixed time?
