    Welcome to CC. No issue as long as you have testing lined up for before the cruise and don't mind an inside cabin (usually what's left very late).

    No price adjustment for a no show (don't cancel them) - you'll get the taxes back for the second person. Someone who doesn't know to use a dummy second person or can't be bothered to ask here.

    That measure may not work so well for smaller ships because their GT measure may not properly indicate the passenger space.

    Yes, but whether the ship changes to local time or not may vary. The cruise related tour operators know the ship schedule and will schedule accordingly.

    The standard measure on cruise ships seems to be a very rough "Passenger space ratio" - it is listed in the wiki sections some web sites, like cruisemapper or cruisedeckplans. For RCI it varies from a low of 30 on Enchantment to a high of 36 for O class ships.
