  1. I was wondering why my Delta One seat from Dublin to JFK seemed uncomfortable! Should have looked under the blanket before sitting down!
  2. No guarantees, but the menu posted by sbcs5390 is the same first day lunch menu we have had on our last three MSC sailings. The hamchi and avocado carpaccio is so good that I ask them to save some back so that I can have it as a dinner starter that night.
  3. You can count on the Top Sail Lounge being open, as well the One Deck Bar and buffet/grill.
  4. Or the villagers in the various Frankenstein movies!
  5. I would really doubt that security (ship or Mexican) would check your back pack. I think you'd be fine.
  6. For interior, at least three to five on the Sea-class ships, and for balcony a usually two to four on Seas-class). No interior disability rooms on Meraviglia or Davina class, none that I know of.
  7. Our kids are grown and don't sail with us anymore, so now, like you, it's all about "she who must be obeyed!" ~ Horace Rumpole, and others
  8. She actually trusts me with my primary eating tools: a proper fish knife and fork, and always continental style! On the occasion of a beef dish (rare occasion, bur more frequent than you!), she also trusts, but verifies during the course of my using a knife with a sharp blade.
  9. Our 45th was yesterday, and I can vouch for the truism of your statement!
  10. There are only three cabanas on Meraviglia, and two are reserved for RS.
  11. Slight correction. MSC does sell generic wristbands, but they would not have the YC logo on them.
  12. We did end up changing a Carousel show day the last time we were on Meraviglia.
  13. Main theater will have at least six shows, and they will be different. It seems that cast has one night off. For the Carousel shows, they typically have two per night of the same production, and seem to rotate the productions. Again, as with all things MSC, they may not hold to alternating the shows. We pre-purchased dates, but had to schedule the show times after we boarded.
  14. Did you really get champagne? It's always been prosecco when we sailed.
  15. I'm curious if that is like the party they do on cruises in the US: YC reception with captain's greeting, a few words from the CD, and then many words (!!!) from the Future Cruises representative!
  16. True. I understand that the intrusive "R" used to be owned by midlands areas of the US. Even in Cincinnati, people will say, "My car needs warshed," instead of washed. I suppose that could be extended to Maryland.
  17. In Ohio, they say wash rag or wash cloth. I thought further south, it would change to "warsh rag." 😃
  18. In our time on board, that bar had a good espresso machine. They had breads, danishes, croissants, butter, jams and some fruit. Not a lot, but good for a start. Not sure if they had yogurt, and I don't think they had things like cereals.
  19. When we sailed Seaside when she debuted in the US, if you just wanted a continental breakfast, they offered that in the morning in the Seaview Lounge on deck 8. Nice views, not crowded, and the bar is open for mimosas or something else. Breakfast is nothing fancy, but it was fresh.
  20. In order to assure that you get the upgrade solicitations, you do have to click on your approval of being alerted to offers from MSC and others on your booking check-in process.
  21. They have Friends of Dorothy informal gatherings as well. Last sailing, they also had a Friends of Jimmy K meeting posted, but I'm not sure if that is done regularly.
  22. My assumption here is that this is an error in the package. The Sea Pavilion is the name of Asian theme restaurant on MSC Splendida and Virtuoso, and possibly others. Seaside has Asian Market Kitchen as its Asian specialty place (actually two places in one: Hibachi, and fusion place. When we sailed Seaside when it first came to the US, the specialty dining experience in the Asian market was the ubiquitous Kaito Experience Menu. Looks like that changed to the fusion experience. Much nicer choices!
  23. Seashore and Seascape are sister ships, with the Seascape slightly larger (145 more passengers). Color schemes are slightly different, but you'll find it hard to tell the difference between Seascape and Seashore. Biggest difference is that Seascape has Robotron, the robotic ride on Deck 20.
