  1. For sailing in the Mediterranean, Europe, Middle East or Southern Caribbean, I believe the rate is 12 Euros (not $, of course). It's been a while since we sailed overseas. Usually do flights and land-based travel to Europe these days.
  2. Let's see. It opened almost two years after it was supposed to originally. I think I'd wager on them missing the goal date.
  3. If you are sailing out of the US, the gratuity (in the form of a daily Service Charge) isn't really excluded. It's $14.50/person/night.
  4. I think Divina is the only MSC ship with a cigar lounge. Also, Meraviglia has a small room for Cigar/Smoking on Deck 18 off the Sky Lounge.
  5. Well, at the very least, you had a severe interloper problem! Did your DW not notice a stranger in the room??? 😉
  6. You are so lucky to have Arnold Casto Jr.! He has been promoted from Lounge Butler to Butler recently, and he has the warmest personality and is constantly upbeat. We had the pleasure of sailing with him for two weeks last year on Seashore. You are in very good hands!
  7. Or perhaps the sign-up for notification. On the online web check-in platform, you have the opportunity to accept special offers and news from MSC. I understand from the postings of others, if you don't select "YES", you will not get upgrade offers. May want to check if that is done. It as at the bottom of the check-in form.

    Ugrade Question

    You will still have Bella.
  9. As Motegi points out, if there is something available, you can wait and check when you get on board. On Meraviglia last fall, we immediately went to the concierge desk and signed up for a chance to upgrade. Had to wait until they closed out check-in time, but we were in our balcony cabin before sail away. Cost was about $500 for the upgrade in total.
  10. I got self control! Didn't even try and "ketchup" with a Dad joke!

    Champagne in YC

On most MSC cruises we have been on, YC is very likely to be Nicolas Feuillatte.
  12. "Mustard drill." Now, that's funny!😁😉
  13. I think that's a good choice. All three of the Hilton properties in that complex are very good. They are all solid 3-Star.
  14. As is always the case with MSC, YMMV! I was commenting based on the new menus showing the $5 charge for a second main dish, and those all showed the lobster and steak options as added cost. Honestly, my experience for MDR is limited with MSC, since we have only sailed in YC. You may very well be right. It would be a pleasant experience for @nyc12345.
  15. If i you are in Yacht Club, it will be on offer at least one night. It should also be available as an added-cost item in the regular dining room(s), at least once. Probably about $19 or so for the cost.
  16. We were on Seaside pre-COVID, and it was either included or the bartenders didn't mind. With the new pricing structure, the worst case scenario is that you pay the difference between the price and the YC allowed price of up to $15. I think the high-end price for the those drinks would be $16, so it might cost a dollar.
  17. For some of us, the presence of the restaurants on deck 16 had one advantage! The common cocktail lounge for the restaurants had some really good bartenders, and the specialty "smoked" drinks there were great. It wasn't the same going down to deck 8 on Seashore, especially when our room was on 16 the two times we sailed Seascape. Looking forward to her brief return to Miami at the end of the year.
  18. Been on both ships, and they are good sports bars. True about football to some degree, but there is a greater likelihood that they will be airing European football mainly.
  19. Geek here as well! You said April on Meraviglia. You must have had Captain Giuseppi Gazzano, the Sydney Greenstreet twin! We were on in March, and he did the same maneuvering that cruise. We meant him a few years ago on Carnival. Very outgoing. He mentioned how he still likes to maintain control over a ship's movement as he is, "Hands on!"
  20. You still have to pay for the show, drink or no drink. You are paying for the show and the choice of a drink (or no drink). Hosts/hostesses check that you are on the paid list at the entryway. The drinks are made in advance and laid out to allow choice. DW and I brought in wine from another bar, and were allowed to bring them in, as opposed to the main theater, where drinks are not allowed.
  21. Maybe they were trying to gently wake you so you could get an early start on uploading videos and photos! Probably lots of bandwidth available then! 😜😉
  22. At least @Essiesmom didn't overburden you by telling you the answer could also be found at the bottom of Post #61, as well!
  23. His family is a group of interlopers I could handle. Officer's families in the YC has never been a problem for us. They are friendly, and the bambinos and bambinas we have met have been well behaved.
  24. There's a gym on MSC Meraviglia?? 😉😁
