  1. What type of food does J Alexanders have? On the hotel's web site it lists this restaurant as close as well as several other restaurants within a mile. So appears plenty of other places to eat. They also list a Restaurant at the hotel open in the evening. I wonder how this is. We will be staying there in December for one night. To be honest when I started comparing hotels and cost HAL was actually a good price and made it cheaper because the will provide transportation from MIA to the hotel and get us to the pier in the morning so for us it was a good option. Ther was a time when hotels through HAL were a bit more expensive but since they offer the arrival transfers to the hotel and then to the ship it makes it worth doing.
  2. In all honesty the Vista Class ships have always had a noise and vibration on the very aft. If one sat in the very back of the dining room near the windows on the first night the table just shakes. That has always been something that was there with that class of ship. Personally my husband and I do not mind it and have been in that corner aft 5191 more times than I have fingers to count on and we just know to expect it. Sadly as far as moving staterooms, this is peak Alaska Season, there are no cabins to move people to unless there were last minute cancellations that were not offered for Up Sell. As other have said after tonight, it will be smooth sailing and it will not be bad at all. Enjoy the Westerdam and Alaska!!
  3. The cruise you booked for May 2025, is it just a 7 day cruise (one segment) or is it a longer cruise that combines shorter cruises such has a 14 day with 2, 7 day cruises. The reason I ask is that not every stateroom shows available for the longer voyages. Often HAL will place their least desirable for the longer portion when in fact a much better state room would be available on each of the 2 segments. In that case one needs to find which stateroom they want that is available for both segments, then ask them to contact Inventory to have the stateroom you want placed into the longer segment. This can sometimes be a big challenge with so many new employees working for HAL. Many are not aware this can be done and will even go as far as to tell you that no you have no other options.
  4. Can you please remove you post, it had my booking number on it and I quickly removed it, but your captured before I could remove, for security puroses can you please remove,
  5. While I know HAL is not using VeriFLY any longer, this is the email HAL is sending out when you cruise is just two weeks away. They really need to update what they send out. PRE-CRUISE MUST DO’S! The final countdown has begun and we’re looking forward to welcoming you! In order to board there are a few requirements you need to complete prior to arriving at the terminal! These are required for boarding. 1.Visit Health Protocols Look Up Tool to understand and meet the pre-cruise vaccination and/or testing requirements specific to your voyage. 2.Complete your Online Check-in as soon as you have booked, including vaccination attestation, cruise contract and boarding pass. 3.If required for your booking and voyage, bring Proof of Vaccination and/or COVID-19 testing. 4.For faster check-in, upload your proof of vaccination and/or COVID-19 test results, as required for your booking and voyage, using the VeriFLY app. See Full Pre-Travel Checklist And Protocol FAQs For More Info
  6. It makes perfect sense for all the reason you listed as long as the pricing has not increased. Make sure you have already registered your AARP card before rebooking. Hopefully the department that handles the Club Orange does not see you were previously booked. Just saying they can get funny about this but you should be OK especially since you have several reason such as using a different credit card. To answer Holly g's question there are several cards that provide Travel Insurance. I have one which is the Citi/Advantage Executive Card, that they just upped the fees but as of July 23, 2025 now covers Travel Insurance. The coverage is actually quite good but does have to be deposited with that card so none of my current booked cruises will qualify.
  7. Thanks Leanne!! Ahhh Yes, Alaska's Liquid Sunshine. After many many cruises to Alaska I have come to expect lots of this. Oddly they always say Ketchikan is the rainiest but I have had more days of sunshine in Ketchikan than I have in Juneau. I can onlly remember one day with sunshine. Just 3 short weeks till we will be on board the Westerdam heading to Juneau 😄
  8. Sadly there is only a slim chance of getting her on this sailing let alone a good price for a single.I am booked on this sailing. This sailings was closed 3 weeks ago I assumed because of moving people over from the canceled Nieuw Amsterdam cruises and it would reopen.. But the time is up for them to move. All categories are waitlisted. I spoke with HAL a few days ago and was told yes in fact it was currently sold out with a wait list for several categories. They are not totally closing it as of yet since it is prior to final but they suspect that if there are cancellations those waitlisted may easily fill the ship. Your best bet is for this person to call into HAl or a TA and ask to be wait listed but not to expect special pricing. The Waitlist can be done for several categories and usually requires a refundable deposit of $100 to show you are serious. They will not quote you a price till you clear the wait list, if you do clear then you are normally given 3 days to accept or decline.
  9. The AARP HAL gift cards are still there, you need to click on AARP REWARDS up toward the top right hand side. I just bought some a week ago after this new promo. They come up next to Princes, which did go up in price instead of 10% discount they are now only discounted 8% but all other cruise lines they offer are still 10% off.
  10. My upcoming cruise luggage tags state Priority but that could be because we are in Neptune Suite. But Boarding Pass DOES NOT state Priority anywhere on it, it does however have 4 Star, S for suite. I want to say the Luggage Tags only have Priority for Neptune and Pinnacle Suites.
  11. This kind of stuff frustrates me to no end, I am glad for you but many of us have called numerous times to be told NO, it has to be for new bookings only. I tried again yesterday. Granted I can see them saying no to my cruise in less than 4 weeks but I have one for December and March of 2025. December was booked in March and March was booked in May. They would not budge. I then go on to explain others are getting it to be told they need reservation number to verify others are getting it to pre-existing cruises that were booked. All of these are Neptune Suites full fare with Have It All and they will not budge.
  12. Yes it is all very sad, I have a firend staying in Maui right now and was to go home a couple of days ago but flights have been canceled and she is not sure when she will get to leave.
  13. Unfortunately the Cancel for Any Reason only covers the person that is canceling and the person remaining then has to pay the Single supplement cost. I have personally always thought this was very unfair what that is the way it is. As Crystal Spin mentioned it is almost better if the person is a No show but then insurance will not cover them if they purchased it. Also the person canceling needs to be the 2nd passenger not first or the whole reservation can cancel except with a No show, if 2nd passenger has checked in and at Sail Away you ssay sorry the first passenger is not going to make it they will not kick the 2nd passenger off.
  14. Sadly I was busy working and totally missed her, thanks for capturing the pics.
  15. I would call it a fairly nice day in Juneau since it is not raining. My weather app says it is Mostly cloudy and 57 degrees. Just a bit different from 97 and sunny here in Vegas 😉 Looking forward to 4 weeks from today.
  16. Unfortunately I do not, in Amsterdam they used Movenpick. I tried checking for next years sailings out of Rotterdam and not seeing any hotels available to reserve.
  17. I am hoping they do for Japan as well but I have doubts. I have used Princess hotel inTokyo twice 2017 and 2019, HAL uses the same hotel. They did not offer the breakfast buffet. We are booked for Noordam for March 2025 but they do not have hotel options but thinking we may stay closer to Yokohama or most likely Chiba. I will say that many complain that HAL hotels are more expensive. I found on my two upc oming cruises they were actually a good price especially with the transfers from airport to the hotel. Upcoming Sheraton was cheaper through HAL than booking on my own and even cheaper than Marriot Waterfront that I also looked at. My NS cruise in December out FLL, I priced several hotels the cost from HAL was a bit lower in some cases and in some slightly higher but again they are picking me up from MIA to thehotel and getting me to the port. I am good with that.
  18. Four weeks from tomorrow we fly into Seattle, and sail on the Westerdam September 3rd.
  19. It is NOT, HAL generally only includes the breakfast for Europe hotels, and never does for North America hotels.
  20. I wanted to add, I looked up Cheesecake Factory is now open on Sundays at that Seattle location at 10:00 am for breakfast/brunch but king of bad timing I think check out was 11:00 and we need to meet down in the lounge bar area at 11 for the bus that takes us to pier 91.
  21. I am staying at the HAL hotel it is Sheraton Seattle Hotel 1400 6th Ave Seattle WA 98101. This will be our third time to stay at this hotel through Holland America. It is a short 2 blocks away from Capital Grille which makes for a nice dinner night before embarkation (not exactly reasonable but one of my favorites) and going the other direction around the corner from the hotel there is Cheesecake Factory. That over all is a good price. The hotel is very nice and modern, was refurbished a few years ago. Has a large Starbucks in in the Lobby that does offer all the normal Starbucks food. They do offer room service and they also offer a morning buffet breakfast but 2 years ago I thought it was quite expensive for what they offered but it was also in during covid. We are going to check out the morning buffet again and see if it appears any better. We had wished Cheesecake was open for breakfast like our local one is on Saturday and Sunday. We will be cruising in September.
  22. It is also for New booking unless you were previously approved for Military credit in late 2022 early 2023 before they changed over to the Sheer ID Process. Evidently previous approved Military is no longer showing up for them and you need to go back in andre-apply for the Military credit with this new verification process.
  23. The camera lense needs some wind shield wipers 😄
