  5. We had booked for the 2nd original cruies in January only because it would have included anniversaries for both of us.
  6. AIS once she leaves should have .ETA to the Nab pilot station. Add about 90 minutes to that This assumes she is not stopping off anywhere as QE did. Today she was loading amongst other things theatre props.

  14. Indeed opinion based on ignorance is usually wrong.
  15. these photos St Petersburg 2016 from QE illustrate clearly the difference made by berth position and wind direction wind was 45knots west more or less straight on QE beam note the slight list of the HA ship spray was felt on deck QV deck 10 the Viking and MSC ships got away with tug assistance perhaps with wind about 5 degrees on port bow it took 2 tugs to move the bunker barge away from QE we left the next morning in a flat calm and were a day late to Kiel which was a disembarkation and embarking port. comments at dinner and elsewhere that evening illustrated how easy it is to be critical without responsibility the many amateur captains on board were full of fanciful theories about the QE captain ability and otherwise as three ships the Viking and both QV and QM2 were delayed the wind was most likely the cause of the delay
  16. katabactic effect air spiralling down from Table Mt often produces strong winds in harbour and narrow entrance channel AIS has Tenerife as destination.,
  17. there is an interesting exchange of views between QV pax and Viking pax on the Viking forum

    QM2 fire

Well sometimes I have been out and about at 0600 for example Stockholm arrival through the islands, fiord passage etc and/or early morning swim. I daresay some pax were up and about and would have heard the corridor announcement so an all ship announcement was correct as majortom10 states. In any case we don't have the responsibility of the safety of the ship and all on. boarrd. The captain does. In a different type of incident on QV off the NC we were in the theatre when a loud noise was heard creating a certain amount of panic amongst some. I thought correctly that bow thrusters were being used. The OOW had sighted was believed to be a body but reached turned out to be a large bulk of timber. The ship had turned almost 180° to investigate. An all ship announcement was made shortly after allaying any concern.
  22. My understanding is acceptance is 18th and departure is 19th
