  1. A moment ago, I just received my email from the Royal Caribbean Marketing Department alerting me to the "Adventure" sailings for fall 2018 and winter 2019 released today "exclusively" for Crown and Anchor Members.

Fortunately, I booked my sailings yesterday and likely would not have gotten the cabins I wanted had I waited for this email to arrive.

Did anyone get an email yesterday or am I the only one getting notifications a day late?

I have. One day late for each of the last three weeks. I got a better one. I received a call from Maria, a RCCL vacation planner specialist, about a month ago. She asked if she could help me reserve a cruise. I told her I was waiting for the release of the 2018 Baltic Cruises. She said she'd follow up and call as soon as they were released. She called me 4 days after they were released. I told her I had already booked a GS and thanked her. Three hours later she called me back having no clue that she had already called me. Strange is all I can say.

  2. Thankfully this has never happened to us, but what if you put a deposit down on a suite and later find out that the ship is chartered? Will you get your deposit back if RCCL bumps you off of the cruise?

What if it's a large group, but not a full charter, and you feel that your cruise would be negatively impacted by the presence of said group? Will RCCL allow you to switch sailings without losing your deposit?

I personally would hope so. I mean if RCCL cancelled on me, I'd expect some form of compensation no different than they would expect some form of compensation if I cancelled on them.

Partial charters or large groups, I don't believe they would refund. Full charters they have in the past allowed re-scheduling & offered a small OBC etc.

  3. I posted this on another thread & I'm pretty sure some will not agree w/ me on this....but I'm one that believes a $100 cancellation fee per person when cancelling after 30 days should apply with any & all reservations. What I see is Cabin Hogs wishing for RCCL to 'commit' to them by holding specific cabins on specific sail dates while refusing to commit to RCCL by using faux reservations and taking multiple cabins off of inventory. If one removes a cabin from inventory, one should use it and/or expect to pay a penalty for cancellation. Given that this new policy allows one to cancel within 30 days w/o penalty is plenty of time to finalize vacation decisions. If one can't figure it out in 30 days, one shouldn't book. I just placed a $900 deposit for two people/on cruise. Believe me, I'd hate to lose that money if an unfortunate circumstance came up to where I could not make the cruise. But I also realize that I had a choice in booking a cabin 15 months in advance thus not allowing a business the opportunity to sell their product. Again I recognize that some will not agree w/ my position, but don't beat me up too much. :)

Just checked and most (if not all) the GS on Brilliance are up in price today.

Looks like the GS party is over.

Yeppers, up $500 since 11am today. It didn't last long. I guess I should have re-checked before I posted. I just did a mock booking and there are no GS left available for the May 1st sailing. Interesting.

  6. GS are priced as the JS, or vice versa on many of the Brilliance's newly released sail dates. Perhaps they are attempting to move folks to the GS cabins or maybe it's a glitch. Having said this, there is a large gap in price between a balcony and a JS. Approx. $2100, which seems very odd. As a suggestion, if you have a JS booked, keep an eye out for decreases as I think it will eventually occur. In the meantime, we selected GS1600 as we wanted a corner aft and given that 1100 was priced the same as 1600, we went for the space and the suite perks that comes w/ it.

  7. Has RC lost their marbles? Looked at the 12-day Russian cruise on Navigator and they're looking for $6800 for the cheapest balcony. I booked a later 14-day also on Navigator for $4800 balcony. Amazing price per night differences for 2018.

I think so! The 14 day Brilliance out of Amsterdam has their GS for $500 less than the balcony on the 12 day on Navigator!
